   When I first saw a poster hanging in a hallway, I knew that I wanted to be part of the Orchestra. I went directly to see Mr. Smith and he told me to come after class the next day.

   Unfortunately, things did not go according to my wishes. I went into the music room, well-prepared and waiting for him to listen——“I am sorry,” he said, “I am afraid we have enough pianists in the Orchestra already. I am really sorry.” And that was that. No more words. I had been refused! I felt frustrated and a little angry, but I didn’t give up. I believed that if I had a chance to make them listen to me, I would be admitted. So I decided to see the director of the music department, Mr. King.

   Fortunately, I was admitted and became an accompanist for the Glee Club(合唱团)。 Mr. King even considered giving me a recital (独奏会) the next year. I admit that these opportunities result from my perseverance. If I had given up after the first rejection, I would have received nothing.
