　　In Europe, many people make friends across the borders between their countries through town twinning. Town or city twinning means two towns in different countries agree and decide to become“twins”with sister city relationship.

　　Their citizens find pen friends in the twin town. They exchange newspapers and stamps. The school teachers discuss teaching methods with the teachers in the twin town. Officials visit the twin town for celebrations. Ordinary citizens travel to the twin town, too, but not very often if it is far away.

　　Sometimes, schools even exchange their classes for two or three weeks! For example, German middle school students study for a while at the school in their twin town in Britain, staying with British families. A few months later, their British friends come to study in Germany.

　　Some towns even arrange exchange visits for theatre groups, choirs(歌唱队) and orchestras(管弦乐队). Others send lecturers to the twin town who tell the people there all about their own town, and show photos and slides.

　　Some towns organize exhibitions to show works of art, for example paintings by artists from their twin town.

　　Tonbridge, a medium-sized town in Kent, for example, has twin towns in both Germany and France. Richmond near London has links with Germany, France and even a town in a Balkan(巴尔干岛)country!

　　Town twinning can help making friends and motivates (促进)people to learn from each other. It helps students to improve their language skills, and it contributes to promoting and strengthening peace and understanding between different nations.

WARNING LETTER

Dear Hong Xue,

　　As you are aware, your student visa regulations set out a number of conditions applying to your visa．It has come to our attention that you are failing to meet the following conditions：You must maintain accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements that have been approved by your education provider if you：

　　●have not turned 18; and

　　●are not staying in Australia with：

　　－a parent

　　－a custodian(监护人); or

　　－a relative who has been nominated(指定)by your parent or a custodian, is aged at least 21 and is of good character．

　　Note：You must not change those arrangements without the written approval of your education provider．

　　a)remain in your homestay during the school term;

     CBC is a famous air company which has over twenty planes carrying passengers and goods, flying
along 12 fixed lines all over the world. Its service is very good but some passengers are still not satisfied
with it and that is why in 1998 and 1999 the company received letters of complaints(投诉) from consumers
or passengers who pointed out over a dozen kinds of problems which are divided in groups in the following
table. This division is called Category. Problems that appear when the plane is flying are Flight problems.
Those about passengers' things carried by the plane are Baggage problems. Customer service refers to
service work which passengers are not satisfied with. Over sales of seats are about the fact that more seats
are sold and as a result the plane is too crowded to be safe. Refund problems appear when passengers fail
to receive the money paid to them because of what they have lost. Fares are problems about the price of
tickets. Reservations are problems that appear when passengers could not get the tickets they have already
booked. Tours are problems about the passengers'traveling by air or hotel problems. Advertising is what the
passengers think about advertisement on the plane. Credit problems are about the use of credit cards.
