Three years ago I traveled with my youth pop group to Cuba(古巴). We were the first American pop group to visit 1 the Embargo(禁运). If traveling to Cuba it is important to remember that you are a representative(代表) of the US and 2 tourism relations are very important especially right now that the Embargo is beginning to lift(取消禁运). The city is unbelievably beautiful and clean, and looks 3 it is from another age. I never felt safer, and the prices of cigars and other goods were very reasonable. There was a view from our hotel across the old city to the ocean, and looking out in the early morning I could see people 4 the streets with palm fronds(棕榈叶). The few cars that were around were all from 1950 or before, 5 gave the feeling that I was actually in Old Havana fifty years ago.
I 6 about the poverty(贫困) of Cuba before traveling there, but once there I was not surprised by the level of poverty. Everyone was extremely polite and eager to talk. I was surprised at the number of Americans I 7 . In fact Cuba is not as closed as I had thought before. There are no 8 out of the US, so to get around this they fly either from Mexico or Canada.
The food and dancing was an experience to remember; Cubans know how to have a good time. Because I traveled with my pop group I was not able to travel as freely through the city as I would otherwise; 9 , I was able to interact with(与……交流) Cubans on a much more personal level. We had a joint concert in the unbelievable Grand Teatro and were able to really get to know the young people of Cuba and their passion(热情) for music. I am 10 planning to return to Cuba in the future.
