阅读理解:

Some fish spend all their lives in the place where they were born.Salmon do not.Born in the fresh water of rivers, they migrate(迁徙)to the ocean when young, then go back to the rivers as adults.

When fall comes, it is time for salmon to spawn(产卵).They leave the ocean and travel to the beginning of the river where they were hatched(孵化).Sometimes these trips are more than 2,000 miles. On the long journey they have to fight against the current of the stream.Sometimes they even jump up waterfalls. When they reach the beginning of the river, they are often very tired from their long and difficult journey.

But they cannot rest. The mother fish makes a nest in the sand on the bottom of the river by slapping the sand with her tail.In this nest the mother lays her eggs and the father leaves his sperm. Then the mother covers the nest with sand leaves the baby fish to hatch.

The young fish hatch in the winter. Some species(种类)of salmon start the journey down the river to the ocean when they are a few inches long. They seem to be swimming backwards, but they are really carried downstream by the current.Others live in the river for two or three years before going to the ocean. All of these salmon, however, will make the trip back to where they first lived.

Living an Adventurous Life
Nearly ten years ago, I was told that I had a brain tumor (瘤), and this experience changed my attitude about adventure forever.I thought that I was going to die and that all my adventures were over.I did not have a brain tumor, it turned out, but rather multiple sclerosis (多发性硬化症), which meant that, although they were not over, the nature of my adventures could have to change.
Each morning that I wake up is a fresh event, something that I might not have had. Each gesture that I make carries the weight of uncertainty and demands significant attention: buttoning my shirt, changing a light bulb, walking down stairs.I might not be able to do it this time.If I could not delight in them, they would likely drown me in anger and in self-pity.
I admire the grand adventures of others.I read about them with interest. With Peter Matthiessen I have hiked across the Himalayas to the Crystal Mountain.I have walked with Annie Dillard up, down, into, and across Tinker Creek in all seasons.David Bain has gone with me along 110 miles of Philippine coast, and Ed Abbey has rowed me down the Colorado River.I enjoy the adventures of these courageous figures, who can strike out on difficult trips – 2 miles, 250 miles, 3000 miles – ready to bear cold and tiredness, indeed not just to bear but to celebrate.
But as for me, I can no longer walk very far from the armchair in which I read. Some days I don’t even make it to the backyard. And yet I’m unwilling to give up the adventurous life, the difficulty of it, even the pain, the anxiety and fear, and the sudden brief lift of spirit that makes a hard journey more attractive.
I refine adventure, make it smaller and smaller. And now, whether I am moving on my hands and knees across the dining room to help my cat, lying wide-eyed in the dark battling another period of sadness, gathering flowers from the garden, meeting a friend for lunch, I am always having the adventures that are mine to have.

This book has information about practically anything and everything! If you have questions, it has a lot of answers. Packed with hundreds of facts, and all of the information you need to keep boredom away and handle schoolwork with ease.

It’s Khachaturian’s first day at Hills Village Middle School, and it’s shaping up to be the worst year ever. He tries to break every rule in his school’s Code of Conduct. Chewing gum in class – 5,000 points! Running in the hallway – 10,000 points! Pulling the fire alarm – 50,000 points!

This book by author James Patterson issued in 2013 for kids tells us that Georgia Khachaturian plans to be good at Hills Village Middle School in all the places her troublemaking brother failed. She’s even promised that she’ll quickly become one of the most popular girls in school.

Homework, heartache – middle school has no shortage of danger. The author of Worst – Case Scenario offers a survival guide for those who are facing or just about to face this big time in school and life. The handbook is packed with funny but useful tips for the trickiest situations in school.

Jamie wants to be the world’s greatest standup comedian – even if he doesn’t have a lot to laugh about these days. He’s living with his aunt and her evil son Steve. But he doesn’t let his situation get him down. He practices the craft of stand – up every day.

In this book, Khachaturian is accepted to art school and imagines a math – and – history – free fun zone. Wrong! It’s more competitive, and to score high in class, he needs to turn his boring life into the inspiration. But then he has to decide if he’s ready to turn his world upside down.

【小题1】This is a fantastic read full of funny stories of Khachaturian’s first day at school, I could actually put some faces on the characters in this book. My daughter is reading it now and laughing and talking about it to her friends for his silly things against regulation.
【小题2】This book is popular with children, because it is full of stories to tell our kids how to be strong and realize his dream though in the worst situation. Jamie shares the secret of his troubled past instead of hiding behind his comedy act, which should be an example for youngster.
【小题3】I like this read because it can teach kids how to face any unexpected dangers or happenings like taking charge of a too – busy homework schedule, dealing with a cold shoulder from a friend, avoiding cell phone disasters, and more. These tips are very useful.
【小题4】Issued in 2013 for kids, this helpful book tells us readers a lot of information with facts of the heroine who is eager to be better than her brother, a troublemaker, in all fields at school. She also would like to be a well – received student in school as soon as possible.
【小题5】I am  interested in this wonderful book because it shows our kids how to deal with competitive life in art school and how to get a very good mark in school when they enter a brand new grade. Also it tells them how to turn their dull school life into a lively one.
