An Earthquake An earthquake struck the city of Xizhou on January 22, 2001. The earthquake started at 4: 50. First of all, most people had been sleeping when some of them heard a strange noise as if a train was passing by. Next a number of houses shook, and people rushed out of their homes. Shortly after that quite a few broken houses fell down while some other buildings caught fire. Hundreds of soldiers came to their rescue. Luckily, only a small number of people were injured or killed since then no important buildings were destroyed since the earthquake was not strong. |
