Al Pacino voted

‘Greatest Film Star’

　　“GODFATHER”star Al Pacino has been named the greatest movie star of all time in a poll(民意测验)of British film fans.

　　Italian-American Pacino topped the Channel 4 television poll to find the 100 greatest movie stars, followed by Robert de Niro, who played his father in“The Godfather II”.

　　Known for a string(系列)of gritty(刚毅的)roles, Pacino, 63, was twice nominated for an Oscar for his performances as Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's“Godfather”movies but he did not win.

　　The 32-year-old Scottish actor was the youngest Top 10 entry. Cary Grant, star of classics such as“North by Northwest”, was the highest posthumous placing at number 10.

　　There were no actresses in the Top 10. “Breakfast at Tiffany's star Audrey Hepburn was the highest female entry at number 13, while Sigourney Weaver, best known for her roles in the“Alien”movies, took 20th place.

　　This year's Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones did not make the list, but her husband Michael Douglas came in at number 100.

　　A good teacher is many things to many people．In my own experience, the people I respect the most and think about the most are the teachers who demanded (要求) the most discipline (纪律) from their students．

　　I miss one teacher in particular that I had in high school．I think she was a good teacher because she was a very strict person．I remember very vividly (清晰地) a sign over her classroom door．It was a simple sign that said,“Laborato ry-in this room the first five letters of the word was emphasized (强调), not the last seven．”In other words, I guess, labor(劳动) for her was more important than oratory, which means making speeches．

　　She prepared her work very care-fully and demanded us to do the same．We got lots of homework from her．Once she had broken her arm, and everybody in the class thought that maybe the home-work load would be reduced, but it con tinued just the same．She checked our work by stamping her name at the bot tom of the papers to show that she had read them．

　　I think sometimes teachers who de mand the most are liked the least．But as time goes by, this discipline really seems to benefit (有益于) the students．

     When I was at primary school in the second grade, I used to follow my elder sister who is five
years older than me. She loved sports and was always playing basketball and softball. She was also
a runner and was good at it. She brought home some running awards, so I was motivated and started
running, too.
     I started training at school and never missed even a day. Even if it was raining, I was training. At first
I was not very good; but as the years passed, I got better and better and started to win some competitions.
Breaking records
      In 1994, I won the Mexican National Championships. Later, I won fourth place in the Pan-American
games that were held in Santiago de Chile. In 1996, I broke the Mexican record; and in 1997, I won
fourth place in the Central American Games. In 1997 and 1998, I again won the Mexican National
