Space tourism

The future transportation technique(技术)like space elevator will help in developing space tourism due to reduction in cost of space travel.Let us see the different aspects of space tourism.

Man has been on a holiday to almost all parts of the earth, however difficult it may be.The only place left for touring was the space. Now even that has been covered too, thanks to the first space tourist, an American businessman, Dennis Tito.He flew into space aboard a Russian rocket, Soyuz, and arrived on the International Space Station(ISS)on April 30, 2001.The second space tourist, South African businessman Mark Shuttleworth, took off aboard the Russian Soyuz on April 25, 2002, for the ISS.

These events seem to have triggered(引发)a series of space tourism companies which have started the plans if construction of suborbital vehicles(亚轨道飞行器)hotels, cruises to the moon, etc.

Space travel is a fledgling(新兴的)industry:It is not born out of necessity but is born out of the human wish and curiosity(好奇).It is developing for the same reasons why man went to the moon.

The main problem about space travel is actually the high prices to get there. It is by no means possible for a common man to spend $20 million on a vacation. The high prices are mainly because launch vehicles are not reusable. So the need of the hour is to produce launch vehicles that are reusable.

The price to go on a space vacation ranges from $50 000 to $2 500 000, depending on whether you want to go now or a few years later and also on the duration and nature of the tour.

In spite of the high prices, people are ready to pay thousands of dollars to go on a vacation in space. This speaks volumes(清楚表明)as to how popular space travel is.The way it is going, the space industry, like the aviation(航空)industry, is going to find that carrying passengers is going to be its main business.

阅读下面的短文(内心感受),然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

In addition to teaching here, I also teach at a smaller high school 17 miles down the freeway from where I live. One day a few weeks ago I was driving to that school when my car broke down just after I exited the freeway.I was only about a quarter of a mile away from the school so I grabbed my books, and started walking.

“As soon as I got there I called a repairman to meet me at my car after class. One of my colleagues asked me what had happened.'This is my lucky day,' I replied, smiling.”

“Your car breaks down and today is your lucky day?' She was puzzled.'What do you mean?'”

“I live 17 miles from here.' I replied.”My car could have broken down anywhere along the freeway. It didn't.Instead, it broke down in the perfect place:off the freeway, within walking distance of here.I'm still able to teach my class, and I've been able to arrange for the repairman to meet me after class. If my car was meant to break down today, it couldn't have been arranged in a more convenient fashion.”

I once read somewhere before that every morning when you get up, you have a choice about how you want to approach life that day.And this is what I choose-to be cheerful.
