Trudy’s class has an English newspaper. The students write stories, articles and poems for it. Then they type and print their works out. The teacher posts everything on the wall so that it looks like a large, open newspaper.

One day Trudy said to the teacher, “Most newspapers have advertisements. Can we have some small ads in ours?” The teacher thought this was a very good idea. She made Trudy the advertising manager and Trudy asked the other students to offer things for sale in the newspaper. Here are some of the ads she received.

Everyone worries. But how do you deal with your worries? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these three steps to do with your worries:

    1. Try to find out what you're worded about

Sometimes, you will know what you're worried about. Other times, you might not. Try to find it out first; if you can't, you can ask for help.

    2. Think of ways to make it better

There is always something you can do to help you feel less worded. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won't solve your problem.

Grades at school are often top worries for kids. If you're worded about grades, ask yourself these questions:

★ Why are grades important? What do grades mean to me?

★ How do I get ready for class? Do I go over my notes even when there isn't a test?

★Do I have a good place to do my homework?

★ Have I tried different ways of studying?

If your worry is about a fight you had with a friend, you might write down all the things you could do: write a note to him or her, invite him or her to a basketball game, say sorry to him or her, etc. Once you have a list of things you could do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.

    3. Ask for help

When you're worried, it can help to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends, or teachers for help.

1.How many steps of doing with your worries are mentioned(提及) in the passage?

       A. Two.             B. Three.        C. Four.            D. Seven.

2.When you don't know what you're worried about,_________

      A. you should try to find it out.           B. you can't ask for help

      C. you don't need to think of ways         D. you can sit there worrying

3.If you're worried about grades, you can ask yourself these questions except “_____”

      A. Why are grades important?            B. What do grades mean to me?

      C. How do I get ready for class?          D. Why don't my friends like me?

4.According to the passage, what will you do if you have a fight with your friend?

A. Make a new friend.                  B. Don't talk to him or her any more.

C. Have another fight with him or her.   D. Invite him or her to a basketball game.

5.The passage mainly tells us_______________.

A. who is often worried                 B. when people are worried

C. What to do with our worries           D. what kind of worries people have

任务阅读 (10分)阅读下列短文,根据短文内容填写表格 (每空限填一词)。

How do you feel when you have to make a speech(演讲) in front of class? What about when you go to a birthday party? Do you get really shy?

Shyness means feeling nervous or frightened when you’re around other people. Experts (专家) have found that more than 80 percent of middle school students feel afraid to be the centre of attention. Some kids are born shy. Some become shy later because of their life experiences.

It’s OK if it takes you a while to feel yourself again when you go to a new place or meet new people. In fact, everybody gets a little shy sometimes. It’s just a case of how much.

Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they get shy. But some become so shy that they won’t go to a restaurant because they are too nervous to order and pay the bill (账单). Some are afraid of meeting new people, so they seldom go outside. This kind of shyness can be bad for a person.

If shyness doesn’t stop you from doing something you want to do, being shy isn’t a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are quieter and cleverer because they think more and talk less. Shy people are also good at working with others because they think more for other people. Some great people in history were shy, too.

You see, being shy isn’t all bad. But remember not to let good chances pass by just because of it! If you have to sing a song at a birthday party or practise your spoken English in front of others, just do it! There’s nothing to be afraid of.
