    U.S.Senator Gaylord Nelson first thought of the idea for Earth Day in l962 when he saw polluted rivers and cities covered with smoke.Senator Nelson needed to get support from Americans to clean up the earth.Finally.on April 22,1970,20 million Americans celebrated the first Earth Day! How can you celebrate Earth Day? Here are a few ideas:

Join a clean一up project--Clean up your street or a favorite beach.

Save energy--Turn off the lights when you leave a room,and use public transportation.

Use less water.

Reduce(减少)/Reuse/Recycle-Practice the three Rs:First,reduce how much you  use.Then reuse or recycle what you can.

One morning it was shining brightly when I woke up. I looked at the alarm clock. It said 3:45! It had stopped! What time was it?I climbed out of bed and went downstairs to the kitchen. At 18, many Armenian young people go off on their own. They go away to college or find full-time jobs, and they often rent their own apartments. Some get married and start families. This independence(独立性)is learned from childhood.

From an early age, American children learn responsibility(责任感). Children as young as 2 begin to put away their toys and dress themselves. At 3, many children do simple chores like setting the table.
