Dear Mr Lambert,

I’m Sabrina Taylor and I’m studying at a middle school. I just learnt that forests are disappearing(消失),and they’re disappearing around the world every year. This happens because people are making paper and energy, building more and more houses and factories. We must stop doing these things. It’s important for us to protect the Earth for our future.

Now I hope you can help stop forests from disappearing. You may stop burning wood to make energy in your factory. This will help forests so much.

There are also many other things to do to help forests. If you would like to know more, please visit www.rainforeststweb.org. By doing some small things, we can make the Earth more beautiful. If you want to talk about it with me, you can email me at shazadinol@hotmail.com.uk.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this email.

Best wishes,

Sabrina Taylor

There was a boy called Jack. He loved to play with a big apple tree. But when he grew up, he didn’t play around the tree any more.

One day, the boy came back to the tree and said, “I need a house. Can you help me?”

“You can cut off my branches (树枝) to build a house.”

Then the boy cut off all the branches of the tree ans left happily. The tree was sad.

Some years later, the boy came back again and said sadly, “I want to go sailing. But I don’t have a boat. ”

“Oh, my dear. You can use my trunk(树干) to make a boat.”

So the boy made a boat with the trunk and left happily without a word of thanks to the trees.

This is a story of everyone. The tree is like our parents. When we were young, we loved to play with them. But when we grow up, we leave them, and only come to visit them when we are in trouble. You may think the boy is bad to the tree but that’s how many of us are treating(对待) our parents.

5.What can we learn from the article?

A. We should spend time with our parents and shouldn’t only ask them for help.
