It’s common for a child to lose his or her baby tooth during the growth. What do children do when they lose baby teeth? People around the world do it differently.

A custom in the US, England, Canada, Australia and some other English-speaking countries is that children put their baby tooth under their pillow (枕头) before going to bed. Some countries even have more interesting traditions. In Nigeria, if you’re a boy, you hold your tooth and eight stones in your fist(拳头). Girls hold six stones and their tooth in their fist. The children then close their eyes and state their names. They then say, “Oh, I want my tooth back!” Next, they throw everything in their fist up in the air and run away as fast as they can. In Mongolia, the baby tooth is given to a young dog. There, the dog is respected and considered to be able to protect people. If the dog likes the baby tooth and eats it, it’s said that a strong tooth will grow again

Four ways to have a good school life

Your schooldays should be some of the best and happiest days of your life. How can you get the most from them, and make sure you do not waste this wonderful chance to learn.

Be active at school! Don’t say things are difficult or boring. Be interested in school-life and your school subjects. Join in lots of activities. Be quick to put your hand up. Go round the school with a big smile. If you are not working, you are not learning, and you are wasting your time at school. Teachers cannot make everything enjoyable.

Keep fit. If you do not eat a good breakfast, you will be thinking about food in class. If you go to bed late and do not have enough sleep, you will be sleepy in class. Play some sports to keep your body strong.
