¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿ New high school students in the US have more to worry about than their test. Often, high school are up to 10 times larger than middle schools. Students become small fish in a very, very big pond.

In the past, American kids knew that high school would bring bullying from elder students. Young students felt lonely and confused.

Nowadays, things are improving. Schools are creating ¡°teams¡± to make students feel welcome. A team is smaller, friendlier, and easier to become a part of than the school as a whole.

Teams are made up of a few students from each grade level. Teachers choose team leaders to act as role models. Within a team older students protect and advise the younger students, who will do the same for the later. The teams stay together for all four years of school. Some teams even create their own flags!

Students meet on campus before school starts at ¡°orientation¡±(ÐÂÉúѵÁ·). At orientation, students get to know the members of their team. Orientation may go on for as long as one week. During orientation, experts guide students through ¡°trust games¡±. In one popular game, a student is blindfolded(ÃÉÆðÑÛ¾¦µÄ) and led by a partner through some obstacles(ÕϰÎï). In scavenger-hunt(ѰÎï) type games, students have to find out the interests and hobbies of their teammates. These activities help students to get close to each other. Students can go to their team members questions, problems and even friendship. This way, high school doesn¡¯t seem quite so scary.

Every year, our school has a dance for all the students. It¡¯s a little funny seeing friends in clean shoes and trousers or colorful dresses, instead of the usual school uniform.

Most of us think the dance is great fun--even the teachers enjoy being there._________,two weeks ago someone said that there would be no live band this year----only CDS.

¡°I don¡¯t believe it!¡¯Amy cried out during the lunch break.¡¯Someone said the school couldn¡¯t _______a band, and they think it¡¯s too noisy anyway.¡¯added Daniel.

¡°Well,I don¡¯t think it¡¯s good enough without a band!said Angela,¡¯and I¡¯m going to see what can be done¡±

Angela was as good as her word.In the afternoon she went_______to see the school headmaster who agreed to give the situation some more thought. And he suggested that one possibility for having a band was to increase the price ticket from$5 to$10.Angela had to find out whether the students would like to do that.

¡°I need all of you to help me,¡± she told our group before school the next day.

¡°Mr.Berry gave me a list of all the names, and suggested we ask each other their_______ about the band and the extra cost.¡±During the day we asked around as Angela suggested, and wrote down people¡±s feelings about the band and the cost.

We were amazed how much support there was for the band and_______agreed to pay the extra $5.¡±I¡¯m surprised¡±smiled Mr.Berry, when we gave him the results.¡¯I really thought that only a few people wanted their band and that the cost would be too high.OK.Angela,your next task is to find a good band and line them up for the dance.¡¯

Angela jumped_______and broke the news to Amy and Daniel.¡¯You¡¯re amazing,¡¯smiled Daniel to Angela as he thought how close they came to having a less than perfect dance.
