Dad was an English teacher who taught high school students. Mom _______ at home and homeschooled their four children. Three of us had no trouble learning, but my sister Catherine still could not _______ by fifth grade, and worse still, did not even know the alphabet.

My mother did some research and found that Catherine had some kind of learning disability. She sent Catherine to a public school to _______ some help.
