2．Long ago，there was a great banana tree in the forest．It was taller than all the other bananatrees around it．The Gorilla（大猩猩）King waited patiently under the tree for the first banana toripen（成熟），soon he could shake it down．He was strong and patient，but there was another onewho also knew of the tree．
The Monkey King also loved bananas very much．He hid behind a big oil palm near the greatbanana tree．He watched the Gorilla King and laughed．He knew that he could climb up the treequickly and steal the banana before the Gorilla King could shake it down．So，the Monkey Kingwaited，too．
When the first big banana finally ripened，the Monkey King climbed up the tree secretly andtook it．The Gorilla King looked up and saw the Monkey King stealing his banana．With greatanger，he shook the tree，and the Monkey King fell from the tree，still holding the banana．Thenthe two kings began to fight．They would not share，and they would not give up．
Finally，as the two fought for the banana，it flew high into the sky．Sadly，the great bananatree was destroyed during their fight，and the two kings became enemies．Now the great banana stillhangs in the sky to remind（提醒）them of their selfishness（自私的）．The banana was bigenough to share，but they chose not to．
