Where can you get beauty, knowledge and insight(深刻的见解) all in one? The answer is probably a museum.
There is a long list of benefits someone can get from going to a museum. However, the best part of museum is they encourage people to become lifelong learners.
Socrates once said, “Wisdom begins in wonder.” Each time you visit a museum, it could spark(激起) an interest in a field you might never have heard before. Every time we go through museum exhibits, we see something we didn’t know anything about. It encourages us to go home and look up more information.
To help students better understand what they have learned in schools, many schools use museums as a tool to add to their curriculum(课程). For example, you may have learned about static(静电) in physics classes. But in a science museum, you can have a more hands-on experience of how amazing static can be. When you touch a big ball full of static electricity, all your hair stands up straight like an angry lion!
In the US, there is the New York Museum Education Act. It says that New York’s museums and schools should become partners to help students prepare for the 21st century. In China, the government asks more schools to organise more museum trips. Earlier this year, the popular travel website Trip Adviser asked its users to rank(评级)theirs favourite museums. They picked the top 25 museums in the world. The first three are: The Metropolitan Museum of Art,New York, US. Musee d’Orsay, Paris, France and the Art Institute of Chicago, US. The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warrior and Horses in Xi’an, Shanxi is the only Chinese museum on the list, which was ranked 23rd.
So come to the museums and there are lots of things to see.

Wu Peng, Anhui
| I am a 14-year-old boy from a poor village in Anhui Province. Like many other left-behind children in China, I live with my grandparents now. My parents went to work in Shanghai several years ago. They call me twice a month to ask about my study. I really miss my parents and I hope I can go to school in Shanghai. I think every child needs parents’ love and care. |
Cindy, Shenzhen
| I like traveling and I have traveled a lot around China. During the trip, I often find that a number of Chinese often break the rules in public. For example, when I traveled in Hong Kong this year, I saw a kid eating noodles on the underground, which was against the rules. However, the kid’s mother didn’t think she did wrong. Can you believe it? Let’s improve our public manners. |
