Erin Brockovich grew up in Kansas, USA. She studied at a business college for a year, and then she went to California.

In 1990, when she was thirty years old, she had a car accident. A law firm (律师事务所) helped her after the accident, so she started to work for them later.

Her job was to organize papers (文件). One day Erin realized that there were lots of very sick people in a place called Hinkley. She felt it was unusual, so she started to look for more information about the town.

Erin worked very hard for five years. She visited lots of sick people in Hinkley and listened to their stories. All the sick people lived near a big factory called Pacific Gas and Electric. Then she discovered that there was something called chromium in the water they drank. It was from the factory and Erin believed that the people were sick because of the chromium in their drinking water. She planned to help them.

Erin started a law case (诉讼) against Pacific Gas and Electric. The factory wasn’t happy about this. They didn’t agree that the people were ill because of the water — but in 1996 the judge (法官) ordered Pacific Gas and Electric to pay the people in Hinkley $500,000 each.

In 2000, there was a film about Erin Brockovich. Julia Roberts played Erin and the film was very successful. Now Erin is famous — she has her own firm and she gives talks all over the world.

Our teacher told us we would have a school sports meet next Monday. We were so happy that we all jumped happily. Then we began to prepare for the school sports meet. We bought many flowers to decorate our playground, chairs and desks. The girls in our class made the Olympic five rings by themselves. They were like real Olympic five rings. We like them very much.

Monday came to us at last. We all wore sports clothes. Our teacher, Miss Li, encouraged us to take part in all sports.

There were many events such as long jump, high jump, relay race, running race, riding bikes, table tennis games and so on. I think riding bikes was the most interesting. Who was the last to pass the finishing line? Who would be the winner? Li Wei in our class rode most slowly. At last, he won the game. We all cheered him on.

And there was a special event. It was a relay race including the head teacher and his students. Our teacher ran very fast, and we all cheered him on. At last our class won the first. We believe Class 3 is the best.
