  A man lived in a tall building in the city of Moscow. As it was very quiet , he enjoyed living there. But there was one problem : the man upstairs(楼上).

  The man upstairs went to work very early and came back late. He always took off his shoes and threw them on the floor. Bang! One shoe. Bang! The other shoe. At that time the man downstairs (楼下) was trying to get to sleep, but he found it very difficult.

  One day the man downstairs went upstairs. With a smile he said ,“I'm sorry to trouble you , comrade.”

  “What is it?”asked the man.

  “Every time you get back , you drop your shoes on the floor. Would you please not do this?”

  “I'm very sorry,”answered the man.“I won't do it again.”

  The next day the man upstairs came home late as usual. He turned on the light, took off the first shoe and threw it on the floor. Then he remembered his comrade downstairs. So he took off the second shoe and put it under his bed quietly. He had his supper, listened to his radio, read a newspaper and then went to bed as before. He was just falling asleep when there was a loud knock at the door. He opened it and saw the man downstairs.
