Every year the two universities take part in a boat race in London. The first of these was held a long time ago, in 1829. Since then Cambridge has won 79 races and Oxford has won 74.

Oxford and Cambridge are the two oldest and most famous universities in the UK. They are both more than 750 years old. Oxford was founded around 1096 and Cambridge was founded around 1209.

Both universities have recently put their lectures on the Internet. There is a competition to see who will have more downloads. But the universities already compete against each other in a lot of things.
