Almost every one knows the meanings of Mr, Mrs, and Miss. Mr is used before the name of men. Mrs is for married (已婚的) women. Miss is for single (独身的) women. But what is Ms?
For some time, business men in the United States have used Ms before a woman's name when they don't know whether the woman is married or not. Today, however, many women prefer the word Ms to Mrs and Miss. The word Mr does not tell us whether or not a man is married. Many women think this is an advantage (优势) for men.
