No one knows when the first house was built and who was the first one to built the house. But the
houses are changing all the time.
(     )1. What will the house of the future look like? Could it have gardens on its walls, or a pool with
fish for dinner? Architects (建筑学家) believe that they may come true one day. The only thing for sure is
the houses will be as green as possible in the future.
(     )2. Many architects in the world would like to build a house like a leaf, the surface of the house
collects sunlight during the day. The energy can be used to heat water, produce electricity, and even make fresh air for the room. The"root"(根) of the house is deep under the ground. It uses the soil to control the
room's temperature.
(     )3. Like a lizard (蜥蜴), changing color with the weather is the most important design of a lizard
house. When it's in the bright sun, the cover of the house will turn white to protect it from strong heat.
During dark days, it turns dark and takes in as much light and heat as possible to produce energy.
(     )4. This design is perhaps for the future of food. It has a garden on the outside wall of the house. People can plant tomatoes, carrots and green tea on them. So every morning, you just need to walk
outside and collect your meals.
(     )5. Looking to the future isn't the only way to be green. Sometimes, the old ways of building
houses can also help cut down energy use. For example, a chimney (烟囱) can be a useful air conditioner because it is easier for hot air to run out of the chimney.
A. Learning from the past                             B. Meals at home
C. The lizard house                                      D. Houses in the future
E. The tree house                                         F. The history of the houses

The Venus flytrap is a kind of meat-eating plant. It grows in very few places, such as wetlands near
the coast of North Carolina in America.
The Venus flytrap is not a large plant. It grows to be only about a foot tall. The plant has white
flowers in the spring, but it is the plant's leaves that make it so interesting. The ends of the leaves have
folding parts with stiff, tiny hairs (带小硬刺的可折叠部分). These are the plant's "traps (捕捉器)".
What does the Venus flytrap eat? As you might guess, the Venus flytrap eats flies (苍蝇). It also
eats spiders, ants, and crickets. The Venus flytrap makes most of its food with sun, air, and water,
just like other plants. Living things just give it extra nutrition (营养) to grow well in wetlands.
How does this plant trap and eat living things? The Venus flytrap uses a sweet liquid (液体) to
attract its food. When a fly lands on one of the plant's open traps, hairs on the surface make the trap
closed. As soon as the trap closes, the fly is dinner!
If you want to have your own Venus flytrap at home, you have to buy the plant from a special place.
You can't take a Venus flytrap from where it grows! There are laws about taking it out of the wild.
1. According to the passage, where does the Venus flytrap grow?
A. In the wetlands.
B. In the desert.
C. In the rocks.
D. In the sea.
2. About the Venus flytrap, which of the following is true?
A. It is a large plant.
B. It only eats spiders.
C. It has white flowers.
D. It can fly in the sky.
3. According to paragraph 4, which is the right order of the following sentences?
a. The trap of the Venus flytrap closes.
b. A fly lands on one of the plant's open traps.
c. The fly is kept in the trap as the food of the plant.
d. The Venus flytrap uses a sweet liquid to attract its food.
A. d-b-a-c
B. a-b-c-d
C. b-d-a-c
D. d-b-c-a
4. Why can't you take a Venus flytrap from the wild?
A. Because the plant may hurt you.
