If someone asks you, “What color is the sky?” I think the answer will be “blue”. I’m afraid that you are wrong. Because the sky has no color.

What’s in the sky? Is the sky full of air? I’m sure that you have asked these questions. We all know that there’s air all around the world. We can not live without air. Planes can’t fly very high because as they go higher, the air gets thinner. If we go far enough away from the earth, we can find that there is no air. The sky is space. In this space there is nothing but sun, the moon and the stars.

People always want to know more about other worlds in space. They have looked at them through telescopes (望远镜) and in this way they have known much. They know a lot about the moon now. But they want to know more about space. I’m sure they will go farther and farther until they know all about it.

I am sitting on the school bus. It is ten past seven in the morning.

Today is Thursday. I will show my Social Studies(社会研究) homework to the class. I will stand in front of the class and give a talk about Michigan, a state (州) in the US. It took me one week to do my homework. Will it go well?

I am not good at Social Studies. Last year, I did badly in this class. Now I am very nervous . I want to be the first to speak. If I go first, no one will think my work is bad. But I don't put up my hand. Lauren puts up hers. She goes first. I quickly put up my hand to be second.

Lauren has a nice voice and is good at talking. She talks for five minutes about Louisiana.

Then it’s me. I walk to the front of the classroom and begin my talk. I first show them a picture of Michigan's flag (旗子). Then, I tell them about interesting things in Michigan. I talk about a huge wheel (车轮) and tyre (轮胎) near the I-94 highway. I also tell them about holidays in Michigan, like the Apple Festival.

At the end of my talk, the class claps (鼓掌) loudly. “I was not so bad,'” I think. I’m glad I put up my hand early. There are 20 other students after me, but nobody gets claps so loud!
