Allan was in low spirits and he¡¯d been looking for a job with virtually no success for more than six months. He spent much time¡¡¡¡ 16¡¡ , for sleeping was the only way he could escape his¡¡¡¡ 17¡¡¡¡ life and find some peace from the troubles.

Allan sat at his computer¡¡¡¡ 18¡¡¡¡ yet another round of resumes (¼òÀú) when a pop-up came on screen. It asked him to rate his level of¡¡¡¡ 19¡¡¡¡ on a scale of 1 to 10. Allan chose a 1! When he submitted (µÝ½») his score the¡¡¡¡ 20¡¡¡¡ appeared on another screen that said, ¡°Your happiness level is in direct proportion to your level of success. If you get¡¡¡¡ 21¡¡¡¡ you will find happiness and become a director!¡± Allan¡¡¡¡ 22¡¡¡¡ the survey for the rest of the evening and the following weekend. A few days¡¡¡¡ 23¡¡¡¡ he was contacted for an interview. He¡¯d been trying to¡¡ 24¡¡¡¡ his mood by taking note of the good things that he had in his life, and not¡¡¡¡ 25¡¡¡¡ on his unemployment.

When Allan went to the¡¡¡¡ 26¡¡ , he was rather surprised to find it was not a(n)¡¡¡¡ 27¡¡¡¡ interview. His employer wanted to see how he interacted with the¡¡¡¡ 28¡¡¡¡ because it was a supervisory (¹ÜÀíµÄ) position and he needed to head and¡¡¡¡ 29¡¡¡¡ his staff. Despite his surprise Allan threw himself into his interview and¡¡¡¡ 30¡¡¡¡ to draw strength from ¡°the positive¡±. Allan got the job on the spot for a good salary. When he asked his boss why he was¡¡ ¡¡31¡¡¡¡ the job, he was told that he had a ¡°good¡¡¡¡ 32¡¡ ¡±.¡¡

Allan¡¯s success lay in his changing his former behaviors and¡¡¡¡ 33¡¡¡¡ the pop-up. In fact the pop-up was created by a kind person who wanted to¡¡¡¡ 34¡¡¡¡ those who have lost heart. Any scale says the¡¡¡¡ 35¡¡¡¡ encouraging words.¡¡
