Have you ever considered
what it would be like not to be able to smile? I 16 , up until a few months ago,
when I found that I 17 couldn’t. Well, I’m exaggerating (夸张)
it a little bit - technically, I could 18 , but only with one side of my
face!
I went to the doctor, and
was 19 with Bell’s Palsy - a paralysis or
weakness of the muscles on one side of the face. As you could 20 , this was quite a shock to
me, and made me very 21 . Although this was a major
bomb that was dropped on my life, this story is not about how 22 life is, but about how I face the sudden 23 falling on me.
Anyway, so smiling is a
part of everyday life for 24 . “Losing” half my face caused
me to think 25 a smile is. According to the dictionary,
a smile is a facial expression indicating 26 or amusement, characterized by the
turning up of the corners of the 27 . But what about the cause?
What is behind the smile, which 28 us to show this expression of
pleasure?
After 29 this for a while, I came up with the 30 that a smile is not only characterized by
the upturning of the corners of the mouth, but also by the actions, words, and
thoughts of the “smiler”. This gave me hope, as I 31 that smiling is not just an outward 32 , but an inward lifestyle.
With this in mind, I set
about learning how to smile with my life through my 33 , not just with my face. 34 , sometimes I send my friends
Smile Cards with a chocolate bar or a bookmark, letting them 35 the true smile.
