M: Where are you going for your next vacation?

W: Well, I’m going to Italy.

M: Oh. What’s the weather like there?

W: It’s beautiful ... And it’s always sunny and warm!

M: Really? What are you doing there?

W: Oh, going to the beach ... maybe playing volleyball ...

M: Anything else?

W: Oh, yes, going sightseeing, going shopping, you know, the usual ...

M: And how long are you staying?

W: Oh, only for three weeks ...

M: Well, that sounds wonderful!

(B)

M: Oh, Anne, that was a wonderful dinner. That’s the best meal I’ve ever had.

W: Thank you.

M: Can I give you a hand with the dishes?

W: I’ll do them myself later. Would you like some coffee?

M: Thanks a lot. I’d love some. Oh, Anne, I didn’t realize you were such a good

cook.

W: (laughs) Actually, I’ve only just learned how. It’s because I’ve been taking

 these courses.

M: Why, I can’t cook at all, can’t even boil an egg.

W: You’re kidding. Well, if you want to, you could take several classes over at the

college and learn how to do it, too.

M: Thanks a lot, but… I’m pretty busy these days. Oh, I just remembered. I wonder

if I could possibly use your phone.

W: Oh, I’m sorry, but there’s something wrong with the phone. It doesn’t work.

Is it really important?

M: Well, you see, I have to call my secretary about tomorrow’s work plan. So, I’m

afraid I have to go now. Thank you for your dinner.

W: You’re welcome. Good night then.

M: Good night.
