C

         Mexico is an excellent place to visit for the traveler looking to both relax and explore．The country offers fantastic beaches and ancient ruins．The city of Cancun is a major city with both ancient Mayan ruins and a large beach．When looking to learn about history, Mexico is a great place to visit as it has ruins left by several different Native American tribes such as the Aztecs and the Mayans．The various resort hotels of Mexico are a great place for the traveler looking to mix relaxation with exploration．

D

         Greece, Italy, and Spain offer warm beaches and thriving cities for the person looking to relax．The warm beaches and resorts along the Mediterranean are perfect for relaxation and fun．The Romantic cities of Venice and Paris are excellent for tourists looking to go on a romantic getaway．The exciting and historical sites of Vienna and London can be great for the traveler looking to have fun and just do some sightseeing．The colder regions of Norway, Switzerland, and Sweden are great for travelers looking for winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, or relaxing near the fireplace while the snow falls．

E

         The splendid tourist destination of Pattaya in Thailand offers travelers a range of attractions．The Pattaya tourist attractions highlight the rich history and culture of this beautiful beach resort．Travelers will have endless pristine beaches to sunbathe or relax．There are also various types of water activities．Tourists can enjoy the various water sports such as water skiing, scuba diving, windsurfing and snorkeling．Elephant Village has in store for you all the fun you ever dreamed of．You can enjoy thrilling expeditions on elephant back, trekking though the jungle, rafting on the lake, riding on ox cart and enjoying elephant shows．

F

         Rio de Janeiro, the city itself being one of the world’s tourist attractions, is extraordinary．Just taking in the eye candy of a city surrounded in green mountains, covered in Atlantic rainforest, and the samba music on all the happy faces of the cariocas （people born and raised in Rio） is revitalizing! The Brazilian population．They are quite something else．They are curious, open- minded, helpful and smiling people, easy to get into contact with．You can enjoy the most famous beach in the world．

They say a cat has nine lives, and I think that possible since I am now living my third life and I’m not even a cat. My father died when I was 15, and we had a hard struggle to make a living. And my mother, who was seriously ill in her last years, died while still in her 60s. My sister married soon after, and I followed her example within the year.
This was when I began to enjoy my first life. I was very happy, in excellent health. I had a good job in San Jose and a beautiful home up the peninsula (半岛) in San Carlos. Life was a pleasant dream. Then the dream ended. I became afflicted (使苦恼) with a slowly progressive disease of the motor nerves, affecting first my right arm and leg, and then my other side. Thus began my second life...
In spite of my disease I still drove to and from work each day, with the aid of special equipment installed in my car. And I managed to keep my health and optimism (乐观), to a degree, because of 14 steps. Crazy? Not at all. Our home was an affair with 14 steps leading up from the garage to the kitchen door. Those steps were a standard measure of life. They were my yardstick, my challenge to continue living. I felt that if the day arrived when I was unable to lift one foot up one step and then drag the other painfully after it ---repeating the process 14 times, I would be through---I could then admit defeat and lie down and die.
Then on a dark night in August, 1971, I began my third life. It was raining when I started home that night; strong winds and slashing rain beat down on the car as I drove slowly down one of the less-traveled roads. Suddenly the steering wheel jerked (猝然一动). In the same instant I heard the bang of a blowout. It was impossible for me to change that tire! Utterly impossible!
I started the engine and thumped slowly along until I came to the dirt road, where I turned in and where I found lighted windows welcomed me to a house and pulled into the driveway and honked the horn.
The door opened and a little girl stood there. When she knew what happened to me, she went into the house and a moment later came out, followed by a man who called a cheerful greeting. I sat there comfortable and dry, and felt a bit sorry for the man and the little girl working so hard in the storm.
About an hour later, the man’s voice was heard, “This is a bad night for car trouble, but you’re all set now.” “Thanks,” I said. “How much do I owe you?” He shook his head, “Nothing. Cynthia told me you were a cripple. Glad to be of help. I know you’d do the same for me. There’s no charge, friend.” I held out a five-dollar bill, “No! I like to pay my way.” He made no effort to take it and the little girl stepped closer to the window and said quietly, “Grandpa can’t see it.”

The professor’s house, big and untidy, stood alone at one end of a huge garden. The place was totally uncared for, quite __36__ and overgrown with all sorts of useless things. I __37__ my way through bushes and tall weeds to the front door and rang the bell.

I like eating fruit and vegetables what are of great benefit to our healthy. Not only do they prevent us from falling into ill, but they help us lose weight. I used to hate vegetables, but follow the doctor’s advice, I gradually kicked the bad habit. Just as an old saying going, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. However, there are still many children dislike fruit and vegetables. On contrary, influenced by this or that kind of advertisement, many were crazy about junk food. Consequently, they become weaker and weaker instead of getting strong. In my opinion, we must take action to change them.
