Contribute your idea to help the poor children who want to study in China

A:Hi, everyone. There was an old topic which has gone now about the possible contribution to help the poor family or children in China. Here, may I ask any talented and kind people to do something for the cause? Then we may organize our own community to do something helpful for our country. Many thanks for your attention.Hope to hear your good thoughts and ideas soon.

B:Thanks for your message.I’ve read the website you posted and knew a bit about what is going on that activity. It’s good for all of us.Personally, I think I would like to help the rural area children who could not support themselves to get educated rather than help those mature ones. What do you think? Meanwhile, I really hope we can have others involved in this.Come on, and let’s do sth.good and nice.Cheers!

C:Hope so…As a Banzhu, I will try my best.At least, we shouldn’t let this message down!

D:If you are interested in this, shall we meet together to discuss some possibilities about it? Please let us combine to contribute a little for children who want to study. In my personal point of view, how to collect money is the key to success.

If you care, just give 2 or 3 pounds, even just 20 pence. Before money is accumulated to a satisfying level, we can definitely work out a reliable way to contribute it.Also please supply some stuff you do not need, or sell something in the BBS or somewhere.

Without proper planning, tourism can cause problems. For example, too many tourists can crowd public places that are also enjoyed by the inhabitants of a country. If tourists create too much traffic, the inhabitants become annoyed and unhappy. They begin to dislike tourists and to treat them impolitely. They forget how much tourism can help the country’s economy. It is important to think about the people and a destination country and how tourism affects them. Tourism should help a country keep the customs and beauty that attracts the tourists. Tourism should also advance the wealth and happiness of local inhabitants.
Too much tourism can be a problem. If tourism grows too quickly, people must have other jobs to work in the tourism industry. This means that other parts of the country’s economy can suffer.
On the other hand, if there is not enough tourism, people can lose jobs. Business can also lose money. It costs a great deal of money to build large hotels, airports, air terminals, first-class roads, and other support facilities (配套设施) needed by tourist attractions. For example, a major international-class tourism hotel can cost as much as 50 thousand dollars per room to build. If this room is not used most of the time, the owners of the hotel lose money.
Building a hotel is just a beginning. There must be many support facilities as well, including roads to get to the hotel, electricity, sewers to handle waste, and water. All of these support facilities cost money. If they are not used because there are not enough tourists, job and money are lost.

A thief who dropped a winning lottery ticket at the scene of his crime has been given a lesson in honesty. His victim, who picked up the ticket,  then claimed the £25000 prize, managed to trace him, and handed over the cash. The robbery happened when maths professor Vinicio Sabhatucci, 58, was changing a tyre on an Italian motorway. Another motorist, who stopped "to help", stole a suitcase from his car and drove off. The professor found the dropped ticket and put it in his pocket before driving home to Ascoli in eastern Italy.

Next day, he saw the lottery results on TV and, taking out the ticket, realized it was a  winner. He claimed the 60 million lire prize. Then he began a battle with his conscience. Finally, he decided he could not keep the money despite having been robbed. He advertised in newspapers and on radio, saying, "I'm trying to find the man who robbed me. I have 60 million lire for him--a lottery win. Please meet me. Anonymity guaranteed."

Professor Sabbatucci received hundreds of calls from people hoping to trick him into handing them the cash. But there was one voice he recognized--and he arranged to meet the man in a park. The robber, a 35-year-old unemployed father of two, gave back the suitcase and burst into tears. He could not behave what was happening. "Why didn't you keep the money?" he asked. The professor replied, "I couldn't, because it's not mine." Then he walked off, spurning the thief's offer of a reward.

   C. knew who the robber was    D. lost the lottery ticket

The underlined word "spurning” in the last sentence can be replaced by         .

    A. accepting      B. claiming      C. rejecting      D. canceling

If the story appears in a newspaper, the best title might be          .

   A. A Thief's lucky Day        B. A popular Maths Professor

   C. A Magic lottery           D. A Reward of Honesty

It was lunchtime and I walked into a small branch office on the West Side. I had come to   36  a checking account. The only officer on   37  was a fortyish black man, standing   38  a small counter from a young white boy who was wearing a V-necked sweater. I think I was especially   39  of the boy because he looked more like a kid from a prep school than a   40  in a West Side bank.
The boy continued to   41  my attention because of what happened next. He was holding an open savings-account book and   42  an expression of disappointment. “But I don’t understand. I opened the account myself, so why can’t I   43  any money?” the boy said, his voice breaking.
“I know it is, but those are the rules. I’ve already explained to you that a fourteen-year-old is not   44  to withdraw money without a letter from his parents,” the officer explained patiently.
Suddenly I noticed the account had a series of small deposits and withdraws. Then I questioned the officer, “How do you   45  that? Why did you let him withdraw money before, but not now?” He looked   46 . “Because the tellers were not aware of his age before and now they are. It’s really very   47 .” I turned to the boy with a shrug. “You’re really getting   48 ,” I said. “You ought to get your parents to come in here and   49 .” The boy looked destroyed.   50 , he put his savings book in a rear-pocket and walked out of the bank.
The officer turned to me. “You know,” he said, “you really shouldn’t have got   51 .” I couldn’t believe what this idiot was saying. “We were   52  this morning that some neighborhood bully has been shaking down (敲诈) this boy for more than a month. The other guy was   53  him to take money out every week and hand it over. The poor kid was   54  too scared to tell anyone. Anyway, the police are on the case and they’ll probably make a(n)  55  today."
“You mean there is no rule about being too young to withdraw money from a savings account?”
“Not that I ever heard of. Now, sir, what can we do for you?”
