Once upon a time, there were two very good friends who lived together in the shade of a rock. Strange as it may seem, one was a     and one was a tiger. They had met when they were too    to know the difference between lions and tigers. So they did not think their    was at all unusual. Besides, it was a peaceful part of the mountains, possibly     the influence of a gentle forest monk who lived nearby. He was a hermit, one who      far away from other people.

For some unknown reason, one day the two friends got into a silly     . The tiger said, “Everyone knows the cold     when the moon wanes from full to new! ” The lion said, “Where did you hear such nonsense? Everyone knows the     comes when the moon waxes from     to full! ”

The argument got stronger and stronger. Neither could      the other. They could not      any conclusion to resolve the growing dispute. They      started calling each other names! Fearing for their friendship, they decided to go to ask the learned forest      , who would surely know about such things.

Visiting the      hermit, the lion and tiger bowed respectfully and put their question to him. The friendly monk thought for a while and then gave his      . “It can be cold in any phase of the      , from new to full and back to new again. It is the wind that brings the cold,       from west or north or east. Therefore, in a way, you are both right! And neither of you is      by the other. The most important thing is to live without conflict, to remain      . Unity is best by all means. ”

The lion and tiger thanked the wise hermit. They were happy to       be friends.

I’ve always had strong opinions of how love should be expressed, but others had their own ways of showing care.

What I 1 most about visiting my boyfriend’s parents is the loud tick of the clock in the dining room as we 2 ate our meal. With so little conversation I was quick to 3 his family as cold. When we got into the 4 to go home, his father suddenly appeared. 5 , he began to wash his son’s windscreen.I could feel he was a caring man through the glass.

When my social style has conflicted with that of my friends, I’ve often felt 11 .For example, I always return phone calls 12 and regularly contact with my friends.I expect the same from them.I had one friend who rarely called, answering my messages with short e-mails.I rushed to the 13 :She wasn’t a good friend! My anger 14 as the holidays approached. But then she came to a gathering I 15 and handed me a beautiful dress I had fallen in love with when we did some window-shopping the previous month.I was 16 at her thoughtfulness, and regretful for how I’d considered her to be 17 .Clearly I needed to change my expectations of friends.

Far too often, I ignored their 18 expressions, eagerly expecting them to do things in my 19 .Over the years, however, I’ve learned to 20 other persons, love signs.

Animals perform many useful and entertaining jobs. Dogs are 1 valuable in guiding the blind, protecting property, 2 lost people, and hunting criminals. 3 are used in guarding herds, carrying men in lands where 4 are no roads, and helping farmers 5 their land. Pigeons have long been used to carry 6 . Wild animals from the jungles, forests and seas are very 7 performers in circuses and moving pictures. People realize that, 8 animals may not have the same intelligence(智力) as human beings, they are 9 enough to learn certain things.

The 10 thing a dog is taught is 11 . It should not take too 12 for him to learn commands. Simple 13 , such as sit, lie down, stay there, come here, can even be taught by 14 .

Training a dog to be a watchdog often 15 unexpected results. Some dogs quickly learn the difference between 16 people and friends. This is 17 their masters welcome friends and 18 them into their houses. However, some dogs will always attack the 19 who comes to deliver letters. One 20 for this behavior is that, although the postman comes to the house 21 , he never enters the house. Therefore, the 22 thinks the postman is someone who is not wanted but 23 coming back anyway. Masters of dogs who attack postmen can 24 show the dog that the postman is a friend and that the dog does not need to 25 him as an unwanted person.
