I had a very special teacher many years ago whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his 41 , she shared her insights(顿悟) with the students. When the class was nearly over, she 42 and said, “I would like to 43 with all of you a thought that has 44 to do with class, but which I feel is very _45 .
“Each of us is put here on the _46 to learn, share, love and appreciate ourselves. None of us knows when this _47 will end. At any moment it can be _48 . Perhaps this is life’s way of telling us that we must make good _49 of every day.” Her eyes beginning to _50 ,she went on saying, “So I would like you all to 51 me. From now on, on your way home, find something _52 to notice. It doesn’t have to be something you see——it could be scent(香味) of fresh bread, or it could be the 53 of the wind slightly rustling(发出沙沙声) the leaves.”
“Please look for these things, and 54 them. The little things are put here on the earth for us to enjoy. They are _55 observing, for at any time they can all be taken away.”
The class was totally quiet. We all picked up our books and went out of the room_56 . That afternoon, on my way home I noticed_57 things than before. Every time I think of that teacher and remember what a(n) 58 she made on all of us, I try to 59 all of those things that sometimes we all ignore. For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret, 60 the things we didn’t do.

A strange woman comes to my door one day in early March. In this area we often have people selling things door-to-door, but she doesn’t look like a professional saleswoman. She just smiles and gives a card to me: “Amy Turner.”
I hold the card and look at her, waiting for an explanation.
“I’ll paint any animal in your own home,” Amy Turner says. “Wouldn’t you like a picture of your loved one? I’ve had experience of dogs, cats, parrots, prize bulls…”
“I don’t have any animals,” I say as we look past each other. She must be wishing some little cat or dog would come down the hall.It is the first chance I’ve had to breathe the air outside. In this spring morning when you wake up, you will find winter is gone.
“Why are you still in your dressing gown?” She asks. “It’s nearly lunchtime. Are you ill?’
“I’m fine,” I lie.I’m not going to tell a stranger I’ve just been sick in the toilet(厕所)upstairs. I was still sticking my fingers down my throat if the doorbell hadn’t rung. But now I’m not sure what to do next. She is still standing there. She doesn’t seem to be leaving.
“I’m hungry,” she says and I smile politely, nodding my head before saying goodbye.
“No,” she puts her foot in the door.“I’m really hungry. I’ve had nothing to eat for two days and no one has any animal for me to paint.I need some food or I’ll fall down, right here on your doorstep.”
I stand to one side and let her in.

I run my fingernail along the cheap gold edge of the card and look at her, waiting for an explanation.
“I’ll paint any animal in the comfort of your own home.”Amy Turner says.“Wouldn’t you like a nice picture of your loved one?I’ve had experience of dogs, cats, parrots, prize bulls...”
“Prize bulls!”I can’t help looking up and down our street. The thought of any of my neighbours keeping bulls in their back gardens makes me smile.

“Why are you still in your dressing gown?”Amy says, turning her attention back to me.“It’s nearly lunchtime. Are you ill?”
“I’m fine,”I lie.I’m not going to tell a stranger I’ve just been sick in the toilet upstairs and would still be sticking my fingers down my throat if the doorbell hadn’t rung. But now I’m not sure what to do next.Amy is still standing there.She_doesn’t_seem_to_think_that_not_having_a_pet_is
