I had a very special teacher many years ago whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his1, she shared her insights(顿悟) with the students. When the class was nearly over, she2and said, “I would like to3with all of you a thought that has4to do with class, but which I feel is very5.
“Each of us is put here on the6to learn, share, love and appreciate ourselves. None of us knows when this7will end. At any moment it can be8. Perhaps this is life’s way of telling us that we must make good9of every day.” Her eyes beginning to10,she went on saying, “So I would like you all to11me. From now on, on your way home, find something12to notice. It doesn’t have to be something you see- it could be scent(香味) of fresh bread, or it could be the13of the wind slightly rustling(发出沙沙声) the leaves.”
“Please look for these things, and14them. The little things we are put here on the earth to enjoy. They are15observing , for at any time they can all be taken away.”
The class was totally quiet. We all picked up our books and went out of the room16. That afternoon, on my way home I noticed17things than before. Every time I think of that teacher and remember what a(n)18she made on all of us, I try to19all of those things that sometimes we all ignore. For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret,20the things we didn’t do.

完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)
Wings of Angel
I used to hate myself because I wasn’t “normal”. Everyone else could play on the monkey bars and ride on a bicycle, but not 36 . I had a severe spinal cord disorder (脊髓病) and I knew I would always be much 37 than others.
I hated going to school and I hated people 38 at me. I hated seeing others smiling broadly and standing straight and tall. And most of all, I hated looking in the 39 and seeing an ugly hunchback (驼背).
My friends found me 40 because I didn’t let others get close to me. I thought I was going to go on like this for the rest of my life 41 Angela appeared.
That afternoon, I was sitting by myself in a corner of the school — a spot where no one would 42 me. That’s when I first heard her voice.
“Hi. Can I sit down?”
I raised my head and there she was, with an irresistible smile on her round face.
“What are you looking at?” she asked.
“Ants.”
“What are they doing?”
“No idea.”
“I bet they’re playing games and making friends. Don’t you think so?”
That was how our 43 started and it didn’t stop. We talked about everything under the sun—the ants, the clouds, my little niche (处境) — until it was sunset.
Then suddenly, she saw my 44 . She just stared.
My heart sank. What I feared most had happened and I knew for sure she would 45 me now.
She stood up, pointed at my back and said, “I know 46 your back is hunched.”
I closed my eyes like a criminal waiting to be sentenced. I begged in my heart for her to 47 , but she just kept on going. “I know what you’ve got in there. Do you?”
“No,” I answered 48 .
She bent and whispered in my ears.
“Your back is hunched because you’ve got a pair of wings from the angels.”
I was 49 . I looked into her eyes and her kindness touched my heart. From that day on, I started to learn to 50 myself because I have the wings of an angel and a kind-hearted friend.

Recently, I have begun to do rides with a group of guys who ride professionally (老练地). The first day, I finished the ride with great 36 , though I tried hard to keep up with one guy for most the ways. To my 37 , I did a little better the second time.
I decided to work harder to 38 . Yesterday, I 39 so much on my ride that I missed the short route (路线) I usually take; 40 , I stayed on the long route. I had never used this route, so I wasn’t really sure about which 41 I should take. Thankfully, a group of four riders 42 , and I just followed them.
A few minutes later, one of the guys got a flat tire (爆了的轮胎), and, with the help of the others, he had it 43 in about a minute. We all waited there 44 he changed his tire. After we started riding again, I noticed something 45 . The guy at the front would ride 46 for a couple of minutes, then he would move over to the side, 47 his way to the end of the line, and the guy behind him would move into the lead position. The process (过程) would 48 every few minutes. This was a lot easier than riding alone, trying to 49 the first rider. This time I had a great time – and I think it is the 50 I’ve ever gone.
This made me realize how important teamwork is, and the 51 of having a great team. The point is that you don’t have to be at your best 52 . You give it your all for a while, and then you let the guy 53 you do the same. The entire team improves because you don’t have to be the 54 all the time. You get your time to shine, and so does everyone else. You cannot get anywhere – or even make any worthwhile improvement – without a 55 . Who else will stop and help you to change your flat tire?
