You are going to read a text about the tips on resume writing, followed by a list of examples.Choose the best example from the list A-F for each numbered subheading(1-5).There is one extra example which you do not need to use.

What follows are tips on writing a functional resume that will get read-a resume that makes you come alive and look interesting to employers.

1.Put yourself first:

In order to write a resume others will read with enthusiasm, you have to feel important about yourself.

2.Sell what you can do, not who you are:

Practise translating your personality traits, character, accomplishments and achievements into skill areas. There are at least five thousand skill areas in the world of work .

Many people are at a loss when asked to think about their abilities, some think they have none at all! But everyone does, and one of yours may just be the ticket an employer would be glad to punch-if only you show it.

3.Be specific, be concrete, and be brief!

Remember that“brevity is the best policy.”

4.Turn bad news into good:

Everybody has had disappointments in work.If you have to mention yours, look for the positive side.

5.Never apologize:

If you’re returning to the work force after fifteen years as a parent, simply write a short paragraph(summary of background)in place of a chronology of experience.Don’t apologize for working at being a mother; it’s the hardest job of all.If you have no special training or higher education, just don’t mention education.

The secret is to think about the self before you start writing about yourself.Take four or five hours off, not necessarily consecutive, and simply write down every accomplishment in your life, on or off the job, that made you feel effective. When you’re satisfied, send it to a printer. It shows an employer that you regard job hunting as serious work, worth doing right.

Isn’t that the kind of person you’d want working for you?

A

A woman who lost her job as a teacher’s aide due to a cutback(缩减)in government funding wrote:“principal of elementary school said I would be the first teacher they would rehire if, government funds became available.”

B

One resume I received included the following:“Invited by my superior to straighten out our organization’s accounts receivable(应收款的).Set up orderly repayment schedule, reconciled(调和,和解)accounts weekly, and improved cash flow 100 per cent.Rewarded with raise and promotion.”Notice how this woman focuses on results, specifies how she accomplished them, and mentions her reward-all in 34 words.

C

For example,if you have a flair for saving, managing and investing money, you have money management skills.

D

An acquaintance complained of being biased when losing an opportunity due to the statement“Ready to learn though not so well educated”.

E

One of my former colleagues, for example, wrote three resumes in three different styles in order to find out which was more preferred. The result is, of course, the one that highlights skills and education background.

F

A woman once told me about a cash flow crisis her employer had faced. She’d agreed to work without pay for three months until business improved. Her reward was her back pay plus a 20 percent bonus.I asked why that marvelous story wasn’t in her resume. She answered,“It wasn’t important.”What she was really saying of course was“I’m not important.”

请根据以上内容,给那5个建议选出最匹配的,最能说明情况的例子。

August has always been difficult for me. It is the time when I realize that the books my English teacher assigned to me are not going to read themselves and that I have a difficult month in front of me.

You might think that I don’t want to spend my summer reading, but that’s not the problem: I love reading. On the first day of my summer holiday this year, I went to the library and got A Gathering of Old Men by African-American writer Ernest Gaines. I enjoyed it very much. I read all the magazines that my parents subscribe to(订阅) and spend about 30 minutes every day with the morning paper.

So why do I hate summer reading for school? Because the books on summer reading lists are often slow-going and just uninviting(不吸引人的) .Teachers and librarians don’t understand that summer reading can be entertaining as well as educational.

They choose books that a friend of my mother’s calls “spinach books”: good for you, but not much fun to take in. Every summer, I read them, hate them and get bitter about the experience.

This bitterness started three years ago when I was about to begin high school. As preparation, my English teacher told me to read The Age of Innocence(《纯真年代》)  by American author Edith Wharton. I’m sure there are many people who enjoyed The Age of Innocence —some might even say it’s their favorite book.

But I don’t think any of these people read it as 14-year-old boy on his summer vacation.

The Age of Innocence is the story of a forbidden romance in New York 100 years ago. At 14,my only experience with romance was my love for baseball. I couldn’t imagine being in love, much less being in love in 1900.The Age of Innocence was totally different to my life.

Most of my required summer reading has been like that—books written in a style that plays up the adjectives and plays down the verbs. I guess teachers don’t think exciting plots make for “good literature”. To me, though, a good writer describes events and characters in a way that makes the reader want to know what happens next.

If I were making up a summer reading list, it would include The Friends of Eddie Coyle by George V.Higgins, The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe, and Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. These are all books that have literary value but, just as important, can also entertain kids on vacation. If the teachers could stand a little fun in the books they assign, my Augusts would be a lot more enjoyable.

We lived in a very quiet neighborhood. One evening I heard a loud crash in the street. Earlier that evening my wife had asked me to go to the store to get some soft drinks. It seemed like this would be a good time to let my teenage daughter Holly practice her driving, so I sent her to the store in my truck.
At dinner my son talked about how much he liked my truck. I enjoyed having it, but I said: "Guy, my heart is not set on that truck. I like it but it is just metal and won’t last forever. Never set your heart on anything that won’t last."
After hearing the loud noise, the whole family ran outside. My son shouted: "Dad! Dad, Holly crashed your truck."
My heart sank and my mind was flooded with conflicting thoughts. Was anyone hurt? Who else was involved? As I ran to the door, I heard a voice in my heart say: "Here is a chance to show Holly what you really love. She’ll never forget it."
The accident had occurred in my own driveway. Holly had crashed my truck into our other vehicle, the family van (搬运车). In her inexperience, she had confused the brakes and the gas pedal. Holly was unhurt physically, but when I reached her, she was crying and saying: "Oh, Dad, I’m sorry. I know how much you love this truck." I held her in my arms as she cried.
Later that week a friend stopped by and asked what had happened to my truck. I told her the whole story. Her eyes moistened (湿润) and she said: "That happened to me when I was a girl. I borrowed my dad’s car and ran into a log that had fallen across the road. I ruined the car. When I got home my Dad knocked me to the ground and began to kick me."
Over 40 years later, she still felt the pain of that night.
I remember how sad Holly was and how I comforted her. One day, when Holly thinks back on her life, I want her to know what really matters in my life.

A.The van was parked in the wrong place that evening.
B.Holly stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes.

【小题2】Why didn’t the writer punish Holly?
A.He was so rich that he didn’t care about losing one truck.
B.He thought there was no point punishing her after the accident.
C.He believed the truck was made of metal and of poor quality.
D.He wanted Holly to know he loved her more than any possessions.
【小题3】What does the underlined sentence mean?
A.She still suffered physical pain.
B.She felt guilty of damaging the car.
