From the first day he entered my junior-high classroom, Willard P. Franklin lived in his own , shutting out his classmates and me, his teacher. I tried to build a relationship with him but he showed no interest. Even a “Good Morning Willar” received only a grunt(咕哝) that couldn’t be . Willard was a loner(孤独的人) who seemed to have no hope or need to break silence. Shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday, we received the news of the annual(每年的) Christmas collection of money for the less people in our school district.
“Christmas is a season of ,” I told my students. “There are a few students in the school who might not have a happy holiday season. donating our Christmas collection, you will help buy food, clothing and toys for these needy people. We start the collection tomorrow.” When I called for the donations the next day, I discovered that everyone had forgotten, except Willard P. Franklin. The boy dug deep into his pants pockets he walked up to my desk. Carefully, he two coins into the small box.
“I don’t need milk for lunch,” he said . For a moment, just a moment, he smiled . Then he turned and walked back to his desk.
That night, after school, I took our to the school principal. I couldn’t sharing the incident(事件) that had taken place.
“I may be wrong, but I believe Willard might be getting ready to become a part of the world around him,” I told the principal.
“Yes, I believe it is for him to get out of his own world,” he nodded. “And I think we can do something to have him a bit of his world with us. I just received a of the poor families in our school who most need help through the Christmas collection. Here, take a look at it.”
As I read, I discovered Willard P. Franklin and his family were the top names on the list.

He fought against his cancer from 2004. In August 2011, he stepped down.
When Steve Jobs was at college, he showed no interest in most subjects. To everyone's surprise, he
decided to drop out of college so that he could work on what he really liked-art and design. It was
really a right decision. Jobs once said our lives are made up of thousands of moments. Any moment
can turn out to be life-changing later. The question is whether we are brave enough to follow our hearts
at that moment and become the person we want to be.
When asked what Steve Jobs is most famous for, many of us will name some products:the iPod, the
iPhone or the iPod. In fact Jobs brought much more to the world than these popular things. Some of his
lessons he taught us were also encouraging.
Jobs once described his wish as "trying to make products that were mixed with art and technology" .
He said this was always an important part of what made Apple's products stand out.
Jobs also taught people how to face failure. He was let go by the successor (继任者) he himself
chose but he didn't hide away. He picked himself up and continued to follow his dream.
Jobs will be remembered by the people all over the world and his effect (影响) will be felt for many
generations (代) to come.

decision." Mr. William announced. "You see, your mother has been offered a post as co-director of a
television in Chicago. Unluckily, the station is not here. After thinking long and hard about it, we've concluded
(下结论) that the right decision is to move to Chicago."
Peter looked shocked, while his sister Amy breathlessly started asking when they'd be moving:"It's
surprising, but exciting!" she said. Peter simply said, "We can't go-I can't leave all my friends. I'd rather stay
here and live with Tommy!"
Mr. and Mrs. William hoped that by the time they moved in August, Peter would grow more accustomed
(习惯) to the idea of leaving. However, he showed no signs of accepting the news, refusing to pack his
belongings (物品).
When the morning of the move arrived, Peter was nowhere to be found. His parents called Tommy's house,
but Tommy's mother said she hadn't seen Peter. Mrs. William became increasingly worried, while her husband
felt angry with their son for behaving so irresponsibly (不负责任).
What they didn't know was that Peter had started walking over to Tommy's house, with a faint idea of
hiding in Tommy's attic (阁楼) for a few days. But something happened on the way as Peter walked past all
the familiar landscape of the neighborhood: the fence that he and his mother painted, the tree that he and his
sister used to climb, the park where he and his father often took evening walks together. How much would
these mean without his family, who make them special in the first place? Peter didn't take the time to answer
that question but instead hurried back to his house, wondering if there were any moving cartons (纸板箱) the
right size to hold his record collection.
