　　An Englishman was showing a foreign visitor around London. “ What' s that strange building?” asked the visitor. “ That's the Tower (塔) of London. ”“ I see. How long did it take to build it?”“ About 500 years. ”“ In my country we can build it in five months, ” said the visitor. Shortly after they came St. Paul' s Cathedral. “ Very interesting! ” said the visitor. “ How long did it take to build it?”“ Nearly forty years, ” said the Englishman. “ In my country we can finish it in forty days,” said the visitor. My Holiday Diary

Monday

    My family is on holiday in Paris(巳黎)． It is a beautiful city. Today we all go on a bus tour(旅游) of the city and visit the Eiffel Tower.

Tuesday

    Today we are in Disneyland(迪斯尼乐园)，Paris. There is so much to see and so many to ride. My brother and I love the fast rides like Thunder Mountain. My little sister loves all the Disney cartoon characters（人物）.The most famous ones are Minnie and Mickey Mouse. I don't want to leave(离开)．

    Today is our last day in Paris. We go out for a special meal. It is sad to say goodbye.

 People are busy working every day, so they do not have enough time to do exercises. As a result, many people become too fat or too thin. To keep our bodies healthy, we have to do exercises every day.

There are many kinds of exercises. Bending (弯腰) and stretching (伸展) helps us move easily. Before we play ball games or swim, it is better for us to do bending and stretching exercises first. This kind of exercise is sometimes called warm-up exercise. Running is also a good exercise. If we cannot run fast, we can Jog. Jogging means running slowly. Again, before we run or jog, we must do warm-up exercises. Also, we should not run or jog in busy streets. The air there is often dirty. Some people like weight lifting (举重)because it can make their bodies strong. Also, we need to do some warm-up exercises before weight lifting.

China Youth says that more and more girl students have entered colleges to study in recent few years. As we know, once the number of boys was larger than that of girls, and the boys did much better than girls in our country for a long time. Now things have changed a lot.

In recent years, the proportion of girl students is growing fast. In 1998, about 39.7% of college students were girls. In 2000, it was 41.07% and in 2001, the number was 42.14%.

There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, there is little difference between boys and girls in their intelligence(智力). That’s to say, girls are as clever as boys. And boys have more interests than girls, so they may not do well in their study.

Secondly, girls are more careful and more sensible than boys. They work harder at school and they do better in all exams.

Another reason is that with the development of society, people pay more and more attention to girls’ education.
