　　Basketball is still a young game.It is just over a hundred years.In the winter of 1891,a certain college was having some trouble with its boy students.

　　The weather was bad and the students had to stay indoors ndline.As they could not take part in their usual outdoor sports,they are unhappy,and some of them even get into fights from time to time.Finally,some of the teachers at the college asked Dr.J.E.Naismith to invent a game so that the students might have something to play at.It was not easy to invent such a game because it had to be played indoors,and the court was not very large.Dr.Naismith thought for a few days and invented a kind of ball game.It was a fast,exciting game with much moving and passing of the ball.It was played between two teams.In order to make a score,the ball had to be thrown into a basket ten feet above the floor on the wall.At each end of the court there was such a basket.At first,Dr.Naismith had planned to have the ball thrown into a box.As he couldn't find boxes of the right size,he had to use fruit baskets instead.That is how the game got its name梑asketball.

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games are drawing near. Are you looking forward to watching the matches? If so, here are some suggestions you need to know about audience manners. Most sporting arenas(赛场) have rules for audience which are written on the back of the tickets. Read your ticket carefully before you arrive. Try to reach your seat half an hour before the start of the event and don’t walk about when a game is being held. When you leave, remember to take away your soft drink bottles and other rubbish. During exciting games, try to control yourself. Don’t criticize(批评) the performance of players and coaches. Be careful with your words, since some may cause anger among other people in the audience. Applause is a special form of body language you can use to communicate(交流) with players. But you should do it properly. When players first appear, clap your hands together to welcome them; don’t go on for too long. After an excellent performance, applaud(鼓掌) warmly. Applause is not welcome, however, while a game is being held and the players need to focus all their attention. Different sports have different rules for the audience. Enjoying artistic gymnastics(艺术体操) requires silence. But lots of cheering can really help basketball and football players. Using flash(闪光灯) to take photos is quite disturbing to tennis players. Mobile phones can not be used in shooting centers. To be a good spectator(观众), you should take time to learn the game ------ related rules and audience manners of each event.
