A young man was going to finish school. For a long time he was looking forward to getting a beautiful sports car. He knew his father could well afford it, so he told him all he wanted.
Then on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. But then he remembered his parents’ words. His parents were very clever mice and often said to their son, “Always wait before you go for a piece of cheese.”
So the young mouse waited quietly. Then he heard a quiet “Miaow” and he knew the cat was there. He stayed in the hole and said to himself, “I’m glad I listened to my parents and learned to wait.”
