After getting married I moved to a flat. I felt pretty comfortable living there 16 something strange happened. I had a doll on the windowsill (´°Ì¨) facing the living room. One day, I came back home from work and found it was facing the window 17 . I thought it was my husband who played a ¡¡18 on me, but he did not admit. I 19 the doll to face the living room again.

The next day, the 20 thing happened. But this time, my husband was so 21 that I believed he had not done that. There was no ¡¡22 of anyone breaking into the house while we were away. And there was no reason to ¡¡23 that someone stole into the house just to turn the doll and left. What happened not only ¡¡24 us but also frightened us.

The doll kept turning every day ¡¡25 Saturdays and Sundays when I was at home. I began to wonder if there was a ghost.

Then ¡¡26 a school holiday, and I didn¡¯t go to work. While exercising in the living room, I 27 the doll was turning by itself! It was very frightening but I 28 knew why it was turning. There was a construction site right next to the building where I ¡¡29 . The construction was at the stage of pile driving (´ò×®) and our building shook ¡¡30 with each pounding (ÖØ»÷). 31 I lived on the top floor, the shaking was quite strong. ¡¡32 , the doll moved little by little with the shaking. This also 33 why the doll never turned on Saturdays and Sundays, 34 there was no construction work at weekends. If I had not been home on a weekday, I would never have 35 the truth.

People do not analyze every problem they meet. Sometimes they try to remember a solution from the last time they had a 36 problem. They often accept the opinions or ideas of other people. Other times they begin to act without 37 ; they try to find a solution by trial and error(·´¸´ÊÔÑé). ¡¡38 , when all of these methods 39 , the person with a problem has to start analyzing. There are six 40 in analyzing a problem.

41 £¬the person must recognize that there is a problem. For example, Sam¡¯s bicycle is broken, and he cannot ride it to class as he usually does. Sam must 42 that there is a problem with the bicycle.

Next, the person must find out the problem. Before Sam can repair his bicycle, he must know why it does not work. For example, he must 43 the parts that are wrong.

Now the person must look for 44 that will make the problem clearer and lead to 45 solutions. For example, suppose Sam decides that his bicycle does not work because there is something wrong with the brakes. ¡¡46 , he can look into his bicycle repair book and read about brakes, talk to his friends at the bike shop, or look at his brakes carefully.

After 47 the problem, the person should have 48 suggestions for a possible solution. Take Sam as an example 49 , his suggestions might be: tighten or loosen the brakes; buy new brakes and change the old ones.

In the end, one 50 seems to be the solution to the problem. Sometimes the

51 idea comes quite 52 because the thinker suddenly sees something new or sees something in a different way. Sam, for example, suddenly sees there is a piece of chewing gum (¿ÚÏãÌÇ) stuck to a brake. He 53 hits on the solution to his problem: he must 54 the brake.

Finally the solution is 55 . Sam does it and finds his bicycle works perfectly. In short he has solved the problem.

Oh God! I think I was about seven when my sisters and I pulled this stupid stunt£¨¾ªÏÕ¶¯×÷£©.

Chris, my brother, aged four, looked down at us with hesitation, asking in a 48____ voice, ¡°Are you sure I¡¯ll land on the blanket?¡± But because of a problem at 49 with his tongue being a bit attached to the mouth, it came out like this, ¡°Ah you sho awill lan on da blanked?¡± ¡°Yup!¡± I told him, ¡°We¡¯re sure!¡± and he let go.

How ¡¡ 50¡¡ he was to trust us! And no matter how 51 we held, Chris fell right 52 that sheet and landed on his stomach. This tiny seventy-pound boy had made a big ¡¡ 53¡¡ right in the sheet!

Because he wasn¡¯t moving, we bent down to ¡¡ 54¡¡ if he was still alive. Slowly, he uttered these five words, ¡°Ah stee hi da flow!¡±, in other words, ¡°I still hit the floor!¡± Poor little man!

Now Chris is fourteen and he still blames us about it. Any tree he climbs he can get down on his own and, ¡¡ 55¡¡ , he wants to be a fireman when he grows up.
