摘要:25.What’s the best title of the passage? A.Jonas Brothers B.The Story About Connect Three C.The Trailer Of Camp Rock D.Summer of `Rock’ B Every Christmas the giant tree in Rockefeller Center sparkles with thousands of lights. From the beginning, when construction workers raised the first one during the depths of the Depression, it has been a symbol of hope. Diana Abad, like most Americans, loved that tree. In 1999, however, Diana was writing her will. The 33-year-old woman from Staten Island, New York, was diagnosed with leukemiaand wanted to put her things in order. Doctors told her she had nine months to live. Her slim chance for survival lay in finding a bone marrowdonor. The most likely source for a match is always among relatives -- but her family was tested and there was none. Then one day in February 2000, she got a call from the hospital saying that out of the four million people enrolled in the National Marrow Donor Program Registry, there was only one match. The potential donor was thinking about it. In March the donor agreed, and the transplant procedure was scheduled for March 27. On that day, a doctor came in with the marrow in a bag, and Diana remembers him saying: “This is it. If it doesn’t graft within four to six hours, nothing will bring you back. Diana asked a priest to give her last rite. Almost immediately after the two-hour procedure, she felt stronger. Doctors told her it looked like the graft had taken. Donors are anonymous, but when she was better, Diana sent a note through the Registry: “You don’t know the joy that I am experiencing, she wrote. “I hope that one day we can meet and I can thank you in person. It was several months before the donor replied. At first he didn’t even give his name. He was 34-year-old David Mason, and he lived in Dedham, Massachusetts. But eventually the two exchanged phone numbers and began to talk. Then unexpectedly and unannounced, he turned up at her door in Englishtown, New Jersey, on December 23. She says it was love at first sight. He says he didn’t feel it until they met the second time. That meeting began a long-distance romance that culminatedunder the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center in December 2004. That’s where David proposedto Diana. She, of course, said yes.

You love Jay Chou's songs and you can sing some quite well. So you make a video of your performance and post it online for your friends to see. But what if this led to something beyond your wildest

imagination—a career in music?

Canadian teenager Justin Bieber, 16, has just had the magical experience: He posted homemade videos of his versions of songs by American singer Chris Brown online for his relatives. He received a phone call from Brown, telling him how much he liked his performance. His singing eventually earned him a fan base and a record contract. After releasing a popular record in November 2009, his album My world 2.0 came out last Tuesday.

Bieber sings ballads(民歌)and songs about puppy love. But is he just another gooey (甜腻的) teen idol? David Malitz, a columnist with the Washington Post, doesn't think so. “If we truly want the best forAmerican children, let us pause and give thanks for Justin Bieber,” he writes. “After years of humdrum bubblegum (乏味的摇滚舞曲) from Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, the 16yearold has thrown a candycoated wrench (扭转) into Disney's heartthrob (甜心) assembly line by giving young fans something worth screaming their lungs out for lovable pop songs.”

From a boy who grew up below the poverty line with his divorced mom to a star who caused nearriots (近乎失控) in shopping malls, even Bieber himself can't believe his overnight fame, although his kind of success is becoming more and more common in the Internet era.

Interested in hockey, the national sport of Canada, the boy once put up pictures of players on the walls of his bedroom. He dreamed of being a hockey star and used to practice signing his autograph. He doesn't need practice now. He signs autographs, if the girls can get close enough, as a music star.

GUESS what’s making 9 million US teenagers scream at the top of their voices this summer? It's not the Hulk or Iron man hitting someone across a room, but the catchy beat of the music in Disney's latest TV movie Camp Rock, which came out in the US on June 20. So how does Camp Rock attract so many viewers? One reason is that it features the hugely popular boy band the Jonas Brothers, whom all the girls seem to adore.

There he meets Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), a teenage girl with an extraordinary voice and a driving ambition(志向)to be a pop singer. However, she can only afford to be at the expensive camp by helping her mom work in the mess hall (食堂)between classes.

When Shane overhears Mitchie singing from behind closed doors, he sets out to find the girl with the beautiful voice.

One group of teenagers was really eager to watch the movie. The kids took their positions on the floor to countdown to show time. One of them, Leah Karrels, 16, even sang the movie's theme(主题歌), We Rock. She explained that she's seen the trailer (预告片) so many times she knows the words by heart.

The girls cheered when the movie began, and for the next two hours the only time they got up was to run for chocolate ice cream cake from the freezer.

"I'm sure this is going to knock High School Musical off the shelves in stores. This is the next big thing," said Leah.
