It's not much, but it's home. Francis Chan, an engineer, lives in Hampstead, north London, in a flat that's just 4ft wide by 21ft long. He loves it.

Tiny though it is, it has got all the comforts. Peter Baynes, Chan’s architect (建筑师),has achieved a clever piece of design, according to architectural experts.

The Chan mini-house was built on what was once a path down the side of a big Victarian house. Not an inch of space is wasted.

When you step in through the front door, you're standing in the shower, on Britain' s only self-cleansing doormat (自动清洁门垫). A door opens on to an equally tiny toilet with washbasin. Two steps further in comes the kitchen, complete with full-sized cooker and fridge, and washer/ drier. A worktop folds down from the wall.

Another step and you're into the dining/ office area. Four people can sit here for dinner, says Chan as he sets the table-top into place. He even has a fold-down drawing-board for when he's working at home. The bed is hidden under a cover board right at the back. "I don't even have to make the bed," Chan says." I just put the cover down. "

Chan's business suits hang neatly on the wall over the bed. Daylight comes in through the skylight. The house feels like a very small boat and Chan admits he toyed with the idea of naming it the "boat-house".

"It cost around £4,700 to build last year. Now it's been valued at £30,000. It proves that good design doesn't need to cost more. It just needs a lot of care." says Chan.

China has mapped out plans for its new launches in the Shenzhou program on the next flight. But one conclusion seems to have escaped most reports in the aerospace media. The flight of Shenzhou 7 could be timed to coincide(吻合)with the Beijing Olympics. Plans for 2008 Summer Olympics call for the events to be held between the 8th and 24th of August in that year. It’s reasonable to expect that China will use the event to display its achievements before the world, and human spaceflight is China’s most significant recent breakthrough.

Shenzhou 7, China’s next manned space mission, was originally advertised for 2007.This fit the pattern of staging a two-gap between crewed Shenzhou missions, which have previously launched in 2003 and 2005.But Chinese media statements have amended this to 2008.Chinese media have reported that the whole program is going well, more time is needed to work on spacesuit that will be used on this flight to stage China’s first spacewalk. It’s possible that Chinese engineers want to make best preparations for this complex mission.

China could intend to carry out the mission of Shenzhou 7 just as media attention is focused on the lead—up to the Olympics. The crew of the fight, and possibly China’s other flown astronauts, could then take part in the opening ceremony. China has previously honnoured her space travelers in great celebrations, such as the Hong Kong event that saw Yang Liwei singing with Jacky Chan.

2.The underlined word “amended”means______.

B.show its great achievements to the whole world

C.prove China has become a great developed country like the USA

D.introduce its technology to the world

4.Which on of the following is true according to the passage?
