摘要: The Ways for Reading To read successfully requires correct ways of reading. Here are some suggestions: (1) Choose books which are neither too difficult nor too easy for you. If you find it too hard to go on with the book, just put it aside for the moment and change for an easier one; (2) Choose books that not only interest you but also benefit you, for reading is not always for fun only; (3) Some books are to be read roughly, but some must be read slowly and carefully. Don’t forget to take some notes whenever you feel it necessary; (4) Don’t be shy to ask questions. Anyone who knows more than you do can be your teacher; (5) Make good use of dictionaries, for dictionaries are your best teachers. 翰林汇

Plagiarism is one of the most serious problems in schools and colleges. It has occurred as long as there have been teaches and students, but the recent growth of the Internet has made it much worse. Recent studies show 30% of all students may be plagiarizing on every written homework they've done. What is plagiarism? It is using other's ideas and words without clearly mentioning where the information is from.

The ways to avoid plagiarism are:

  * Put in quotations (引号) everything that comes directly from the text.

  * Paraphrase (转述), but be sure you aren't just rearranging or replacing a few words. Instead, read over what you'll paraphrase carefully; close the text so that you can't see any of it; and write out the idea quite in your own words. Then check your paraphrase to make sure you haven't accidentally used the same expressions.

In US and UK universities, plagiarism is considered as cheating or dishonesty with punishment from a zero for the homework to a failing grade for the subject, to a loss of all grades for that term or an expel (开除) from the university for at least two terms.

Several methods are taken in US universities to stop students' plagiarizing on line. Some colleges are experimenting with a program that can control the computer's operating system during the test. Teaches also go to www. turnitin. com to catch cheaters. However, students need to be made clear of the reason why plagiarizing is wrong.

Animals use communication to tell others about their territory, find a mate, make friends, let others know how they feel, start and stop fights, and warn others of danger. Here are some of the more unusual ways that animals talk.

Dogs bark, cats meow, birds chirp. We're pretty familiar with these forms of communication. But animals use sounds in other ways, too.To find a mate, the male ruffed grouse stands on a hollow log and beats his wings, making a drumming sound. The hollow log amplifies the sound so that it can be heard for up to a quarter of a mile.Mole rats(鼹鼠)use a banging sound for the opposite reason. They like to live alone. So they warn other mole rates to stay out of their way by banging(猛撞)their heads on the top of their tunnels(地道).

Animals use touch to communicate in many ways.Biting, kicking, and hitting send obvious messages, but touch can also be used in friendly ways.Chimpanzees(黑猩猩)will touch hands to greet each other. Many primates groom each other as a way to show friendship, removing bits of dirt or insects from each other's fur.Elephant may touch trunks in greeting.

Dancing is another way to talk. When a bee wants to tell other bees where to find a good stash of nectar(花蜜), it performs a special dance, waggling its body and moving in ways that tell the other bees which direction to go and how far to fly.

Some creatures even put their message in lights. Each type of firefly has its own flashing code. This helps males and females find mates of the same species. The lights not only tell what kind of firefly it is, they also guide the insects to each other.Color can also be important. The cuttlefish turns different colors to show how it feels. When it's ready to fight, it turns a dark color.

Another way to communicate without actually being there is through smell.

A gazelle(瞪羚)has special scent glands(臭腺)near its eyes that it rubs on branches to mark its territory. When other gazelles pick up the smell, they realize that this territory has already been claimed. Many animals mark territory by smell, including domestic cats and their wild cousins.

The ways animals communicate are as varied as the creatures and the messages they want to send.By observing carefully, we can learn more about what they mean.

D

As the country's economy continues to steam ahead, once popular forms of entertainment, such as Karaoke(卡拉OK),card games and even boxing bars, appear to be losting their attractiveness.Stressed out white - collar wokers are camping out on rooftops, smashing(砸)up restaurants, pretending to be children and even visiting cemeteries in a effort to ease the pressure of modern life.

Consider the members of Shanghai's Cat Rain club.By day, this group of young women work executive (决策管理的) jobs, but by night they climb buildings so they can spend the night on the roof."You feel relaxed when you're sitting on the roof, looking up to the sky and chatting with friends," said Gong Ying,25.

The stress of work is not just limited to people in Shanghai.A recently opened restaurant in Beijing encourages customers(顾客) to smash plates --- as long as they are willing to pay to replace them. Some workers even wish to return to their childhoods.Recently, hundreds of people took part in a festival in which adults pretended to be children. It was an adultsonly event, and participants could read comics and eat sweets all day.

Scenic places such as parks and rivers can also help people relax and put things in perspective. But a cemetery?

Cemetery companies in Shanghai organized visits to local graveyards for stressed - out workers in March. The participants were taken to quiet spots in the cemetery where they could think about life and their futures."Pressure may bring us unhappiness, but it doesn't mean we can't find ways out,"says Chen Bin,a rooftop camping fan with still some other interests."Life should be imaginative."

68.Peopel are going to those new activities mainly for ______.

   A.recreation   B.new ideas   C.physical refreshment   D.psychological relaxation

69.The underlined phrase "put things in perspective"in the 4th paragraph possibly means______.

A.have a good rest          B.get over negative feelings

C.take physical exercise      D.judge things correctly

70.When Chen Bin says:"Life should be imaginative",she means______.

A.life should be lived in imaginations

B.the dead can be alive in our imagination

C.people should create new ways of life

   D.we should view life positively

读写任务

阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

No wonder English poses(构成)such a challenge to non-native speakers. This most global of languages has more words than any other, over 1 million according to the Global Language Monitor.Out of this number, the average American college student has mastered between 8,000-15,000.

Realizing that words are the building blocks of language, many Chinese students try hard to catch up.They make out long lists of words-often in alphabetical order-and simply memorize their definitions(释义)and Chinese meanings.

The bad news is that definition memorization does them little good when it comes to college entrance tests like the SATs.For these tests, a student needs to understand, not simply parrot words studied.

The good news is that there are better ways to build an academic English vocabulary.

  Vocabulary learning system

The first thing to do is to develop an organized, but easy means of collecting and learning new words. We recommend a card system that includes the following information:

  Word-Simple Definition in English-Phrase or Sentence-Related Words-Synonyms(同义词)and Antonyms(反义词)-with a Chinese translation on the reverse(背面)of the card.

The advantage of this system is that with a single card, a student can learn not just one word but a group of related words.

Keep your cards on a detachable(可分离的)metal ring, so you can carry them around and add to your collection daily.

[写作内容]

2.然后以约120个词以“有什么记单词的好办法?”为主题写一篇短文,并包括如下要点:

2)说明好的记忆单词方法的重要性;

3)为应对高考你将如何加强单词记忆?

[写作要求]

1.你可以使用实例或其他论述方法支持你的论点,也可以参照阅读材料的内容,但不得直接引用阅读材料中的句子

2.作文中不能出现真实姓名和学校名称
