Reading comprehension.

Well, Bill. I'm not sure whether to send you to heaven or hell. After all, you greatly helped society by putting a computer in almost every home, yet you also created that terrible Windows XP. I'm going to let you decide where you want to go.

Bill replied,Well, what's the difference between the two?

God said,I'm willing to let you visit both places, to see if it will help your decision.

Okay, then, said Bill,Let's try hell first.

So Bill went to hell. It was a beautiful, clean, sandy beach with clear water and lots of beautiful women running around, laughing and playing about. The sun was shining; the temperature perfect. He was very pleased.

This is great,he told God.If this is hell, I really want to see heaven.

Fine, said God, and off they went.

Heaven was a place high in the clouds, beautiful and sunny, with angels flying about. It was nice, but not as nice as hell.

Hmmm, I think I'd prefer hell,he told God.

  Fine,replied God,as you desire(如你所愿).

So Bill Gates went to hell.

Two weeks later, God decided to see how Bill was doing in hell. When he got there, he found Bill shackled(披枷带锁)to a wall being burned by demons(魔鬼).

How is everything doing? He asked Bill.

This is terrible. This is nothing like the hell I visited two weeks ago. What happened to that other place, with the beaches and the beautiful women playing in the water?

Oh,God said, what you saw is a screensaver(屏幕保护)I designed by myself. Glad you like it!

True or false:

(1) God offered Bill a chance to choose where to go because he thought that Bill was a kind man.

(2) Bill preferred the hell to the heaven.

(3) Bill decided to stay in hell as soon as he got there.

(4) What Bill had seen in the heaven was real while what he had seen in the hell was not.

(5) Bill was cheated by God.

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Europe this summer. I haven't decided where to go yet, but I'd like to
experience Britain and France. And I don't want to spend too much money, Any ideas?
      Esperanto  5-26-2012  2:23 pm
I had tour to Britain last year. It's a very nice place. I had a great time there. If you get a chance,
visit Stratford. That's the town where Shakespeare lived.
     Yoshi   5-26-2012  2:28 pm
First you should make sure what you want to do there. Each country in Europe has so much to see.
Are you interested in museums and castles (城堡)?Or do you want to get to know anything modern?
      Cyber Boy   5-26-2012  3:02 pm
Yoshi-Good question. I'd like to see some museums, but I also want to try some of France's famous
food, and a castle would also be great.
     Yoshi   5-26-2012  3:21 pm
I think an English-France-Germany trip might work well for you. You can do a little bit of everything.
That's wonderful.
      Esperanto  5-26-2012   3:38 pm
It's easier to say than to do. It will need a lot of money and take time. Cyber Boy isn't so rich. I think
he'd better go in France first this time and he is still able to travel to England or Germany in the future if
possible.
     Yoshi   5-26-2012  3:54 pm

Very few people enjoy exams. I don’t, either. And although I tell myself not to worry about them, I always do! So I’m not surprised that my students worry about them, too, even though they usually don’t need to. Because they are afraid of failing. However, since it is hard not to worry at all, we all must try not to worry too much. Why? Because worrying makes exams worse! How to do this?
Ask the teacher about how to revise and about exam skills—how to work when you are in the exam. Good students don’t wait until the week before an exam. They study all through the year. It is not possible to learn everything at the last minute. So don’t leave it till then.
If you start planning and working for each exam early and you make sure that you understand what you’re studying, then, when it is over, you’ll be able to say, “What a good exam that was!”
Take a short rest during your time of work and revision. If your mind is tired, it won’t remember well. Work at the time when you know you’ll work at your best.
If you’re studying in the evening, don’t go straight to bed afterwards. Your mind will still be “going round and round”—thinking too much. Do something else, maybe walk or get exercise. Choose something that will relax you, and make you think of other things.
If you feel bad, talk to someone about your worries. But don’t be too relaxed! Some stress over exams makes you work hard for them.
