It was 8:30 and I was lying in the sun, listening to my CD.

Then my mum came out. She wanted me to go out with her. She told me about this place called Give Kids the World. It¡¯s a special place for ¡¡35 to spend a vacation when a child had a life-threatening (ÖÂÃüµÄ) illness. There were several jobs ¡¡36 did there, including gift giving and ice-cream ¡¡37¡¡ . Mum said I would enjoy it, but I expected this was a ¡¡38 job.

I got in the car and Mum drove to this place. There was a house in the village that we went into to do our work. I had to put some ¡¡39 on the back of a golf cart (¸ß¶û·òÇò³µ). Mum told me we were going to take a toy and an ice-cream to every child in the village.

We got to the first house and I knocked on the door and shouted, ¡°Gift Giving¡±, and a woman answered it. Sitting in the middle of the living room was a boy in a wheelchair. I gave him the gifts, and his face lighted up with ¡¡40 . I walked out and thought, ¡°That must be painful, unable to jump around.¡±

As I came into the second house with gifts, it seemed a little strange that the child didn¡¯t ¡¡41 me. Her mum said she was deaf and only partially (²¿·ÖµØ) sighted, so I needed to go and stand in front of her. When I ¡¡42 that, she became very excited and made a sign with her hands. Her mum told me this was the sign for ¡¡¡° 43 ¡±.

44 back in the cart, Mum told me these kids might not live to see tomorrow. Suddenly, I ¡¡45 I should be more thankful that I don¡¯t have these illnesses ¡ª that I was not in the same ¡¡46 as these kids. I no longer wanted to be at home listening to my CDs. I would rather be doing this, maybe making a difference in these kids¡¯ lives.

I used to have little passion (¼¤Çé) in my life. But what happened the other day changed my min. It was then that 1 learned how ¡¡26 it is to have a passion in life.

That day 1 went home in Mom's ear. When Morn 27 at a red light, someone on the side of the road caught my eye. It was a man dressed ¡¡ 28 rags (ÆƾÉÒ·þ). He was homeless. That didn't interest me, because I had seen ¡¡29 like him before. Those people usually looked unhappy and hopeless.

¡¡¡¡ But this man was 30 in some way. He was not sitting down with a 31 expression. Instead, he had a¡¡ 32¡¡ in his hand and was dancing happily to the music. The radio seemed to be the most precious (Õä¹óµÄ) thing he had.

¡¡ "Morn, why does that man have a radio ¡¡33 he¡¯s homeless?¡± I asked.

¡¡ "He¡¡ 34¡¡ it," she replied.

¡¡ "But why doesn't he use the money to buy food or clothes? He¡¡ 35¡¡ something that he didn't need."

¡¡ "Well, Sarah, sometimes food and clothes aren't the most important.¡±

¡¡ That man must care so much about¡¡ 36¡¡ that he bought a radio instead of food or clothes. I soon realized that¡¡ 37¡¡ is the key to life.

¡¡ Since then I am always thinking of ¡¡38¡¡ is truly important in life. A home, a meal, clothes¡ªthese things are 39 part of the life. What we often forget is that we all need a joy, a light in a ¡¡40 . day. We all need a passion which gives a person the happiness they need ~o keep going.

One day I was watching a movie at home . Tears ¡¡31 from my eyes as I saw a touching scene. My three-year-old son came to me and asked me ¡¡32 I was crying for. I kept silent as I couldn¡¯t explain ¡¡33 him it was just an emotional thing. To my 34 , he touched my face with his little hand and said, ¡°Dear Mom, stop crying! You see, everything will be fine. You are my good ¡¡35¡¡ .So just get up and let¡¯s get ready for school.¡± On hearing him say this to me, I couldn¡¯t help laughing. It was so ¡¡36 for a child to say so. Later I realized that he had repeated(Öظ´) almost all 37 I had told him while he was crying one morning.

¡¡¡¡ The first time a child begins to speak, he tries to ¡¡38 what his parents have been telling

him for a long time. Usually parents start with the words ¡°Mama¡± , ¡°Papa¡± and so on. But as the child ¡¡39 learning and possibly starts speaking on his own without being taught, we as parents always forget he¡¯s still being tutored (½Ìµ¼)by us. The only difference is that we¡¯re now doing it in a more active way than before. We ¡¡40 use words which we don¡¯t want our child to say, and when he says those words , we ¡¡41 where he has learned them. Even then, some of us don¡¯t realize the child has learned the words from us only. Instead we start to put the blame(Ö¸Ôð)on his friends , or ¡¡42 who has talked to him when we¡¯re not present.

¡¡¡¡ So if you want your child to have perfect behavior, you¡¯ll have to 43 a good example to him. And if you can¡¯t do that, you have no ¡¡44 to expect your child to have such a thing. After all, the parents¡¯ words and behavior have a great ¡¡45 over their child.
