REPTILE PETTING ZOO

at the Oak Park Nature Center

Kids! Are you tired of Mom or Dad dragging you to the same old petting zoos, where (if.you're lucky) you might get to touch a little rabbit or goat?

Mom or Dadf Are you tired of hearing your kids complain about how animals in the same old petting zoos are monotonous?

Consider This :

The fact is that most mammals are boringly warm, furry, and come in a limited range of dull colors. Reptiles, on the other hand, are cold - blooded and covered with scale(鳞) of attractive colorg, from bright green to bright, red to dark purple-red.  Some, like the chameleon, can even CHANGE colors. Did you ever see a rabbit with scales and a purple tongue almost as long as its body? NO I  Yet the blue- tongued skink (小蜥蜴)  is all this and more!In our zoos,  you can pet skinks,  snakes,  bearded dragons, and other fascinating creatures! Leam what these reptiles eat and how they care for their babies, which ones live in the desert and which live in wedands, which ones are meat-eaters and which are vegetarians (素食主义者) , which ones are deadly poisonous and which are not.

 SO REMEMBER :

If you're bored with furry animals like rabbits…

Then the place for YOU is the Reptile Petting Zoo !

Bring the WHOLE family--Grandpa,  Grandma,  Cousin Irene,  even baby Joe ! There's something for EVERYONE !

My mom is always at work and my sisters are never around, so I have nothing to do. My house is borboring. The train lets me escape and explore.

I have been taking the train for five years. I've learned that it's fast and convenient.  I live about two milmiles from the Blue Line Imperial station.  I like taking the train because it gives me freedom.

My favorite place to go is downtown.  I take the train to Macy's Plaza in front of the 7th Street Station  to do some shopping at Borders or Victoria's Secret, or to get something to eat at the food count  With 25 cents, you can take the DASH bus from the station to get to the Fashion District. Since I like making ac- cessories(首饰)  like earrings, I love going there because of all the deals on jewelry supplies.

I take the train to the Museum of Contemporary Art with friends on the first Sunday of every month since we can get in for free. We tour around the museum and get to do an art project at the end.  I like going to the museum because there are a lot of wonderful things.

The cool thing about the train is that it connects to other train lines, which lets you see different parts of the city. The Gold Line runs from Union Station northeast to Pasadena and now east to East L. A. The Red Line goes from downtown to Hollywood. The Green Line goes from Norwalk to several beaches. When I don't know how to get somewhere, I go to mta. net, type in my starting point and end point and get times and routes. I hardly ever get lost.

A cat whisperer is a person who can talk and communicate with cats. Talking to a cat means understanding the spoken and unspoken words of a cat. Cat whisperers can help treat a cat well.

You too can become a cat whisperer if you leam to understand the body language of your cat. Take its eyes for example. If a cat opens her eyes wide and looks right at you, she is attentive and ready to listen to you. When the eyes are half closed, it may mean she is a sleepy cat or she may want you to know,  "I trust you and everything around me.  I'm safe. " When the cat's eyes are clouded,  it means that she is ill or may even be in a relaxed mood. When the cat stares at you, she means that she wants you to stay away and does not wish to be disturbed.

Besides the body language, you also need to consider a cat's feelings if you want to become a cat whisperer. For example, if you are petting your cat and you see her tail moving from side to side, it means that she is happy and loves to be petted. But if suddenly you get a bite, it means that she wants  you to stop petting at once.  A cat kneading on your leg means that she loves and appreciates you.

Cats are not good at showing their emotions like the dogs, but prove to be good friends just the same. With a bit of understanding and patience, you too will become a good cat whisperer.
