My childhood left three months ago on a plane to Austria.
It was a (31)C day when my baby cousins moved away.My cousins were a fundamental part of my life; (32)A they were not with me,they were on my mind. They brought back the untroubled days of my childhood,(33)D games, adventures and silliness, but they also helped(34)A me from an at-times selfish teenager into a responsible adult.
My aunt and uncle moved here from Boston with their 1-year-old daughter Yasmeen. They lived in an apartment on the side of our house and I was(35)C to have our family, especially a baby girl,so close to us Yasmen had close friendship with each of my sisters, but I knew the one that (36)B between us was the strongest. As she began to walk on her own and talk in full sentences,I realized my great(37)B upon her.I noticed that she'd (38)A some of my unpleasant actions,(39)D with her mother after I had done the same.Yasmeen made me realize what being a good(40)B really was.

My (45)A with Yasmeen and Maya has taught me the importance of influential people.I know that I have helped Yasmeen and Maya (46)C,but"the babies"have had an even greater influence on my own life. They have shown me how to be a parent,a sister,a child and most importantly,a friend.Our(47)D has made me a better person--more patient person, with the ability to(48)D endless questions and spilled (洒)juice; an (49)B person, able to have fun and be happy with others; a role model,(50)C the babies idea about right and wrong, and a compassion person, able to forgive and love.

11.A few days ago my family and I were out for an evening walk.As we headed home,dark(41)B started rolling in and we knew we probably wouldn't make it back without getting wet.(42)A enough, the rain started falling just as we(43)D our neighborhood. We all (44) C?H down the street and into the house but when we got there I noticed that one of my sons was(45)A.I went back out in the rain and found him (46)C in an irregular pattern in front of the house. His face was one of(47)D as he seemed to be going in circles. This is my child that usually hates getting (48)B.

"I'm trying to but I have to (51)D the rain drops!"
He was getting more wet than any of the rest of us(52)A he was trying to avoid the raindrops. As I went and put him(53)B my arm and walked him inside,I realized that there is a good (54)C in this story.

10.I often read of incidents of misunderstanding or conflict.I'm left (31)C.Why do these people create mistrust and problems, especially with those from other(32)D?
I was growing up in Kuala Lumpur in the early 1960s,(33)D children from different races and religions played and studied(34)A in harmony. At that time my family lived a stone's (35)Bfrom Ismail's.And no one was bothered that Ismail was a Malay Muslim and I was an Indian Hindu-we just(36)D our differences.Perhaps, our elders had not filled our heads with unnecessary advice, well (37)B or otherwise.
We were nine when we became friends.During the school holidays,we'd (38)A the countryside on our bicycles, hoping to (39)C the unexpected. At times Ismail would accompany my family as we made a rare shopping trip to town.We would be glad of his (40)D.
When I was twelve,my family moved to Johor.Ismail's family later returned to their village, and I(41)A touch with him.
One spring afternoon in 1983,I stopped a taxi in Kuala Lumpur.I(42)A my destination. The driver acknowledged my (43)Bbut did not move off.Instead,he looked (44)Dat me."Raddar?"he said, using my childhood nickname (绰号).I was astonished at being so(45)A addressed (称呼).Unexpectedly! It was Ismail!Even after two (46)Dwe still recognized each other.Grasping his shoulder,I felt a true affection,something(47)C to describe.
If we can allow our children to be (48)B without prejudice, they'll build friendships with people, regardless of race or religion, who will be (49)Btheir side through thick and thin.On such friendships are societies built and (50)C we can truly be,as William Shakespeare once wrote,"We happy few.We band of brothers".
