One morning,my son,Chilly,found a carpenterworm (毛毛虫) unexpectedly and put it in a jar. Each day he couldn’t 1      to visit the little guest. Few weeks later we discovered it 2        in a cocoon (苗) .

 Are you truly happy? Do you ever know what it means to be happy and what it takes to achieve happiness?1.      The following are a few tips that I follow to create happiness in my life.

  Make a plan for achieving goals that you believe will make you happy. Your moods will very likely increase if you are going after something you value.

Surround yourself with happy people. It is easy to begin to think negatively (消极地) when you are surrounded by people who think that way.2.     

  When something goes wrong,try to figure out a solution instead of being absorbed in self pity. Truly happy people don’t allow setbacks (挫折) to affect their mood because they know that with a little thought they can turn the things back to their favour.

  3.        These few minutes will give you the opportunity to focus on the positive things in your life and will lead you to continuous happiness.

  Finding the humour in situations can also lead to happiness. Find a way to make light of a situation that would otherwise make you happy.

  The pickle (咸菜) jar as far back as I can remember sat on the floor beside my parents’ bed. 1       he got ready for bed,Dad would empty his pockets and drop his 2        into the jar.   Kids’ health : four steps for fighting stress 

  Everybody gets stressed time to time.1.        Some ways of dealing with stress- like screaming or hitting someone——don’t solve (解决) much. But other ways,like talking to someone you trust,can lead you to solving your problem or at least feeling better.

  Try taking these four steps the next time you are stressed :

  (1) Get support. When you need help,reach out to the people who care about you. Talk to trusted adults,such as parents or other relatives.

2.        They might have had similar problems,such as dealing with a test,or the death of a beloved pet.

  (2) Don’t take it out on yourself. Sometimes when kids are stressed and upset they take it out on themselves. Oh,dear,that’s not a good idea. Remember that there are always people to help you.

  (3) Try to solve the problem. After you’re calm and you have support from adults and friencLs,it’s time to get down to business.

4.        Even if you can’t solve it all,you can solve a piece of it.

  (4) Be positive. Most stress is temporary (暂时的) .Remember stress does go away,especially when you figure out the problem and start working on solving it. These steps aren’t magic,but they do work. And if you can stay positive as you make your way through a tough time,you’ll help yourself feel better even faster.

  When I entered Berkeley,I hoped to earn a scholarship. Having been a straight A student,I believed I could 1        tough subjects and really learn something. One such course was World Literature given by Professor Jayne. I was extremely interested in the ideas he 2        in class.

  When I took the first examination,I was 3        to find a 77,C-plus,on my test paper,4        English was my best subject I went to Professor Jayne,who listened to my arguments but remained 5 .

  I decided to try harder,although I didn’t know what that 6        because school had always been easy for me. I read the books more carefully,but got another 77. Again,I 7        with Professor Jayne. Again,he listened patiently but wouldn’t change his 8      .
