Rubbish may cause a lot of environmental problems if it is not properly treated. It may pollute air and water. When people breathe the polluted air or drink the polluted water, they may get ill.

Our city is attaching great importance to dealing with the problem. For example, rubbish is sorted and sent to different places so that it can be treated differently. Some rubbish, such as paper and glass, is recycled, while harmful rubbish is buried deep to avoid environmental pollution. Waste water is made clean before it is poured into rivers. Besides, the government has passed laws to prevent people from throwing rubbish wherever they like.

As members of our society, we should have a strong sense of environmental protection and do whatever we can to fight against pollution.
