Crocodile watching

Do you fancy getting up close to some of the most terrifying animals on earth? Crocosaurus Cove, in Darwin (Australia) has the “Cage of Death”. It’s an enclosure(围场) that’s lowered into a pool. This gives you a 360 degree view of a crocodile as it’s being fed. The cable broke once and the cage sank to the bottom, but they’ve fixed it since then.

Edge walk

How about walking along the edge of a building several hundred meters up in the air? If that sounds like fun, head off to the CN Tower in Toronto (Ontario, Canada). Built in 1976, the tower is 553.33 meters tall.

The Edge walk consists of a 20-30 minute stroll along a 1.5 meter wide platform that runs around the tower’s restaurant roof. During the walk, you’re encouraged to lean forwards as you look over Toronto’s skyline (轮廓线).

Plastic ball rolling

Do you fancy rolling down a hill in a plastic ball?

Plastic ball rolling is popular all over the world, but the place to give it a go is in Rotorua (New Zealand). Brother David and Andrew Akers came up with the idea in 1994. A typical orb (球) is about 3 meters in diameter, with an inner orb size of about 2 meters. There’s no brake or steering mechanism, but the inner layer of the plastic ball helps absorb the shock.

Volcano bungee jumping

If you’re looking for the adventure of a lifetime, how about going bungee jumping off a helicopter into the crater of a live volcano? As part of the jumping, a helicopter ride takes you to the Villarreal volcano, one of the most active in Chile. Once you’re at the drop zone, you leap off the helicopter and fall into the volcano. Jilly Dos Santos: I was getting only four to six hours of sleep a night and I was late for school a lot. With the new start time, I’d have to wake up even earlier. After we heard about the proposal, a teachers said to my class, “If you don’t like it, why don’t you do something about it?”

Jilly: I organized a group of students to speak to the school board.

Jilly: I wanted to focus our presentation on why having an earlier start time was unhealthy. There is scientific research about teens and sleep. I learned that during your teen years, because of a change in hormones(激素), your body begins to change. You start to want to go to bed later. School starts the same time it always has, so getting enough sleep becomes difficult. I realized there wasn’t something wrong with my time management or me; the way I was feeling had a physical and biological basis.

Scope: How did it go?

Jilly: About 30 students came to support me, and the board liked that I didn’t get emotional and just provided the evidence. Two months later, an 8:55 a.m. start time became official. The board decided to make the start time later instead of earlier.

Scope: What has changed since the later start time?

Jilly: I don’t need to stay up an extra hour or two at night, because I can get work done in the morning. I’ve also been late a lot less. And this year, there are more morning clubs and more people going to them.

When students and parents are asked to rate subjects according to their importance,the arts are unavoidably at the bottom of the list. Music is nice , people seem to say , but not important. Improve your memory

Some people often complain about their poor memory. Actually there are several ways to keep your memory sharp. This article will show you some simple tips.

1.When you say these things, you begin to plant the thought in your mind and it may become true. Tell yourself you can remember anything as long as you put your mind to the task. You  will see an improvement in your memory.

Most people say that they do not usually feel confident. But exciting things can happen when we actually believe in ourselves. Here is a man who believed in his own ability even as a boy, and that confidence helped shape his adult life.

At the turn of the last century, a young boy quit school to help with the family expenses. When he was fifteen, he became interested in automobiles(汽车) and worked in a garage. He subscribed to a correspondence course on automobiles and, after a long day in the garage, studied at the kitchen table in the lamplight.

When he felt ready, he walked into the Frayer-Miller Automobile Company of Columbus, Ohio. When Mr. Frayer noticed him, he asked, “Well, what do you want?”

“I just thought I’d tell you I’m coming to work here tomorrow morning,” the boy replied. 

“Oh! Who hired you?”

“Nobody yet, but I’ll be on the job in the morning. If I’m not worth anything, you can fire me.”

Early the next morning the boy returned to the plant. Noticing the floor was thick with metal shavings and accumulated dirt, the boy got a broom and set out to clean the place.

Because of his self-confidence and work ethic, the boy’s future was predictable. He went on to stand out in many fields, including automobile racing, piloting World War I planes and founding one of America’s largest airline companies ---- Eastern Airlines.

People who become more confident habitually encourage themselves. Without confidence, we are not likely to move far in the direction of our dreams. It is important that we always believe in ourselves. In order to reach victory, we must believe in ourselves even when we make mistakes
