13.Flying
Ever since I was old enough to dream,I have imagined myself soaring with the eagles. My love of flying has shaped the way I live and the person I have become. Two years ago, that passion rocketed to new heights when I had the opportunity to visit Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona.For a whole week I lived in a college dorm,roomed with a total stranger and---best of all---I flew!
My group took part in activities ranging from learning about the history of aviation (航空) to flying in state-of-the-art pilot training simulators (模拟装置).At least once a day,I devoted myself to learning one of the world's best training aircrafts,the Cessna 182.Not only did I receive thorough ground instruction,but I also got to fly.In total,I flew five hours to receive my private pilot's license.
In that one joyous and oh-so-short week,my passion for aviation grew even stronger.Now,
whenever I see a plane flying overhead,I feel a sense of pride thinking I've done that.
During my time in and above the Arizona desert,I learned not only about the mechanics and
techniques of aviation, but also about myself and how I see the world. As I floated in that seemingly endless sea of air,I became aware of the variety and complexity of the humanity below. On the ribbons of roadways, each tiny car carried people with hopes and dreams.I wondered if any of those people had ever wished to fly like an eagle. Then I realized that each must have his or her own dreams and ambitions.That's what makes us unique.We try to respond to something special inside us.I also realized that I was especially fortunate to be making my own dream come true.
Everywhere I go,I hear,"Do what makes you happy and you will be happy."It sounds like
standard advice, but I've really thought about it and taken it to heart.I couldn't care less about how much money I make or what benefits I receive.I know that I am already in hot pursuit(追逐) of my dreams. And,even if they change, even if they finally don't involve aviation,I'll always aim to fly with the eagles.

The young dolphin swam in the waters off Brisbane, Australia, and found his seafood dinner. Suddenly he realized that he was not the only hungry predator(捕食者)in the area. A ten-foot tiger shark aimed at the same fish. The dolphin refused to give up the meal and dashed to the shark. The shark attacked him, biting down hard into his back. 1.

Later, on the sandy beach nearby, staff at the Tangalooma Resort were shocked to see the severely wounded male. He was a regular visitor, a playful 12-year-old dolphin called Nari. “We’ve known him all his life, since he was a baby,” says resort director Trevor Hassard. 2.The wound measure about a foot long and more than an inch deep. He took photos of Nari and sent them to vets at Sea World, a local marine mammal park. They agreed that Nari needed emergency care.

The next day, Sea World staff traveled to the beach to catch Nari.3.Nor did he appear the next evening. Everyone was depressed and worried about him.

4.“I had started thinking the worst,” Hassard says. “Words can’t describe how excited we were.” Six rescuers surrounded Nari and carried him to Sea World. The vets performed an operation to remove the dead flesh from around the bite. Nari was then moved to a special pool where his wound was cleaned and treated regularly.

5.Sea World decided to tansort Nair back to his home beach. Hassard had worried that the other dolphins might reject Nari after such a long absence. That concern disappeared when Nari’s friend Echo instantly recognized him and moved close to his side.

Write a letter or e-mail of gratitude to your parents.At first,this might sound a little strange,particularly if you don't have the best relationship with your parents,but write a letter or e-mail simply thanking your parents for having you.Even if you've lost them,even if you don't know them,even if they weren't great parents,you can still write this letter.None of us would be here if our parents had not given birth to us,and that's a unique bond that should not be ignored.You don't even have to send it if you don't want to,and the process will be great.

63.E
Answer that e-mail you need to get to.You know which one I'm talking about:that e-mail that you know is crying out for a response.Maybe it's work-related,maybe it's personal; it doesn't matter.Respond immediately and clear it from your mind-your focus is needed elsewhere.
64.A
Schedule a meeting that will move you forward.I'm talking about getting together with someone who has information that will be beneficial to you.This doesn't have to be formal; in fact,it doesn't even have to be related to your study at all.It can be dinner with a friend from whom you want some advice,for example.Just get that person on the phone,and then get that meeting on the calendar.

3.April 27is Take Our Daughters to Work Day in Britain.Started at first in the United States and brought to Britain in 1994,Take Our Daughters to Work Day has become a special day for girls between 11and 15.On that day thousands of girls take a day off school and go together with one of their parents to their work places.The purpose of this day is to broaden girls'horizons and raise their self-confidence.
For many years people have thought that boys can do better than girls in society.But actually,"girls can be whatever they want to be just like boys,whether it is a pilot,a nurse or a chief executive,"says the chairman of Our Sons and Daughters Charitable Trust,an organization which supported the activity of the Day."Now the girls have a close look at what their parents are doing and this may help them to be more self-confident when they are faced with a choice of work."
Schools and many companies support the activity too.Palmers Green High School for Girls,in north London,has made the Day a necessary part of career education.

Experts believe that girls with higher self-confidence aim higher and are more likely to be successful in life.Parents have the most important effect on the confidence of teenage girls.If parents believe in their daughters and show examples both at work as well as at home for them,this will give a lot of help to girls.Take Our Daughters to Work Day is surely a step in the right direction.
