Using fall decorations from nature is a fun and inexpensive way to spruce up the home. So today,I'm going to cover 5 tips for using fall decorations from nature!

First, plants and vegetable such as pine cones, small pumpkins, small gourds(葫芦) ,thin sticks, and twigs with berries are easy to find and look great in many fall decorative arrange?ments. For best results, when collecting items for decorations from nature, always try to pick things that are already dry. Then, use an air drying method appropriate for each type of decora?tion to preserve them for decorative use.

To preserve pine cones and sticks found in nature, lay each pine cone and stick on sheets of newspaper in a warm dry room. The air drying process can take up to a few weeks,so check on them frequently to make sure the newspaper doesn't get wet underneath the pine cones and sticks. When it comes to preserving small pumpkins and gourds for your decorations, use a soft cloth to wipe off any moisture(潮气) on the small pumpkins and gourds. Then, place each small pumpkin and gourd on sheets of newspaper in a warm, dry room and allow them to dry. Repeat?edly wipe off the pumpkins and gourds, and then also change the newspaper underneath until they are dried. This process can take several weeks or months.

Once the decorations are ready for use, there are many ways to display these decorations from nature.

For this first tip, place a red six-inch candle in the middle of a round plate and then sur?round the candle with pine cones to create a fall themed center piece.

Alternatively, for tip number two, place a deep orange colored six-inch candle on a plate and then use small pumpkins and gourds to surround the plate at the base of the candle for a fall harvest themed center piece.

For tip number three, place pine cones found in nature in a paper lined basket and this dec?orative arrangement can act as both a decorative arrangement in the home and a drying process for the pine cones.

For tip number four, after the sticks from nature have dried, loosely place them inside a tall clear vase to create a fun and easy fall themed decoration in the home.

Finally, for tip number five, wrap a small amount of foam(泡沫材料) in decorative paper and then place the foam in the bottom of a basket. Next, poke the dried twigs and sticks with the berries into the foam in the basket to create a lively berry basket arrangement.

Art is a product of human activity, made with the intention of stimulating(刺激) human senses as well as human mind or spirit. Thus art is an action, an object, or a collection of ac?tions and objects created with the intention of expressing emotions or ideas. Beyond this descrip?tion, there is no general agreed-upon definition of art, since defining the boundaries of art is subjective, but the drive for art is often called human creativity.

An artwork is normally recognized in quality by the amount of stimulation it brings about, the influence it has on people, the number of people that can relate to it,and so on. All come to the "degree of art". Most artworks that are widely considered to be "masterpieces" possess these features.

Something is not generally considered art when it has a different primary purpose. Howev?er,some contemporary art challenges this idea.

As such, something can be considered art in general,or as an element of some object. For example,a painting may be a pure art, while a chair, though designed to be sat in,may include artistic elements. Art that has less functional value or intention may be referred to as fine art, while objects of artistic merit(价值) that serve a functional purpose may be referred to as craft-work(工艺 品) .

In his article " Modernist Painting",Clement Greenberg defined modern art as " the use of characteristic methods of a discipline(学科) to criticize the discipline itself".

Though only originally intended as a way of understanding a specific set of artworks, this definition of modern art underlies most of the ideas of art within the various art movements of the twentieth century and early twenty-first century.

Scientists in the United States say plant life has increased on Earth in the past twenty years and that in every area of plant growth the increase is the result of weather conditions.

Eight scientists from across the United States did the study. The space agency NASA and the Department of Energy paid for it. The findings were published in the magazine Science.

The researchers spent one and a half years examining weather satellite information. The in?formation was recorded from 1982 to 1999. That period was one of the warmest on record. Re?searchers found that rainfall generally increased during that time.

The satellites measured the number of leaves on plants and the amount of sunlight taken in. The scientists used that information to estimate what is called net primary production. This is to?tal amount of carbon stored in land plants.

The scientists report a 6% increase in stored carbon since 1982. They say gains were high in equatorial areas, especially around the Amazon River in South America. The area alone had a 1% increase in the net primary production.

Ramakrishna Nemani of the University of Montana in Missoula headed the study. He says reduced cloud cover led to growth in Amazon area. He also says the lack of clouds allowed more sunlight to get through. More sunlight meant increases in photosynthesis(光合作用) .That is the process by which plants use energy from sunlight to produce the chemicals they need to grow.

Northern Canada, the north-central United States and northern Europe were second in increased plant growth. Ramakrishna Nemani says a rise in temperature helped plants there.

All together, the report says 25% of areas of plant life on Earth experienced increases. But the scientists also note increase in the number of people on Earth and carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Ranga Myneni of Boston University in Massachusetts, another study scientist says humans use about half the net primary production on Earth. And he notes that the world popula?tion grew by 36% during the period of time studied.

(   ) 5. Which of the following is in charge of the study?

     A. The space agency NASA of the US.

    B. The Department of Energy of the US.

    C. Ramakrishna Nemani in Missoula.

(   ) 6. What's the main cause of the plant growth put forward by the study?

     A. Growth in population.    B. Regional features.

    C. Seasonal variation.    D. Weather conditions

(   ) 7. Why do scientists believe that reduced cloud cover has led to the plant growth in the Amazon area?

     A. Because plants could take in more sunlight.

    B. Because plants could get more rainfall.

    C. Because plants could enjoy cooler air.

    D. Because plants suffer less from natural disasters.

(   ) 8. Which of the following descriptions agreed with what the years from 1982 to 1999 suggested?

     A. It was the warmest on record.

    B. Rainfall decreased little by little.

    C. World population grew by 25%.

    D. Stored carbon increased by 6%.
