20.Astronomers have discovered a new PINK planet on the edge of our solar system.
The small planet---given the name 2012VP 113 by scientists---is 80 times further from the Sun than the Earth.The newly discovered planet is 280 miles in diameter (直径) and is in a distant area of the solar system beyond Pluto (冥王星) once thought to contain no planets at all.
The object is only the second to be found in a mysterious area at the boundary between the solar system and outer space called the inner Oort Cloud
Astronomers now believe there may be thousands of previously unknown objects orbiting the Sun at this distance.And they believe that the pattern of the new planet's orbit suggests it is caused by the gravitational pull (引力) of a Super Earth that traces such a large orbit around the Sun that it has never been seen.
Astronomer Scott Sheppard, who found the new planet with his colleague,Chad Trujillo, said,"If you took a Super Earth and put it a few hundred astronomical units out, the gravity could shepherd (引导) this new object into the orbit it has."
The traditional view of the solar system had been that of nine planets orbiting the Sun.This was challenged in the 1990s when scientists found that Pluto is orbiting in thousands of icy objects called the Kuiper Belt.
Beyond this belt only one object,called Sedna,was thought to exist on its own.But the latest discovery suggests that our solar system has a number of planets at its edges.

32.Which of the following is TRUE?C
A.Astronomers now believe there must be thousands of previously unknown objects.

Astronomers now believe there may be thousands of previously unknown objects orbiting the Sun at this distance,这里天文学家相信是有可能而不是一定,所以A选项不正确;根据句子Astronomers have discovered a new PINK planet on the edge of our solar system一个新的发现但是不是第一次发现,所以选项B不正确;根据句子The small planet---given the name 2012VP 113 by scientists---is 80 times further from the Sun than the Earth可知D选项不正确.But the latest discovery suggests that our solar system has a number of planets at its edges可知最新的发现表明我们的太阳系边缘有许多行星.
根据句子they believe that the pattern of the new planet's orbit suggests it is caused by the gravitational pull (引力) of a Super Earth that traces such a large orbit around the Sun that it has never been seen.
Astronomers have discovered a new PINK planet on the edge of our solar system.
Astronomers have discovered a new PINK planet on the edge of our solar system.

11.Sunday is more like Monday than it used to be.Places of business that used to keep daytime"business hours"are now open late into the night.And on the Internet,the hour of the day and the day of the week have become irrelevant.A half century ago in the United States,most people experienced strong and precise dividing lines between days of rest and days of work,school time and summer time.Today the boundaries still exist,but they seem not clear.
The law in almost all states used to require stores to close on Sunday; in most,it no longer does.It used to keep the schools open in all seasons except summer; in most,it still does.And whether the work week should strengthen its legal limits,or whether it should become more"flexible,"is often debated.How should we,as a society,organize our time?Should we go even further in relaxing the boundaries of  time until we live in a world in which every minute is much like every other?
•These are not easy questions even to ask.Part of the difficulty is that we rarely recognize the"law of time"even when we meet it face to face.We know as children that we have to attend school a certain number of hours,a certain number of days,a certain number of years-but unless we meet the truant officer (学监),we may well think that we should go to school due to social custom and parents'demand rather than to the law.As adults we are familiar with"extra pay for overtime working,"but less familiar with the fact that what constitutes (构成)"overtime"is a matter of legal definition.When we turn the clock forward to start daylight-saving time,have we ever thought to ourselves:"Here is the law in action"?As we shall see,there is a lot of law that has great influence on how we organize and use time:compulsory education law,overtime law,and daylight-saving law-as well as law about Sunday closing,holidays,being late to work,time zones,and so on.Once we begin to look for it,we will have no trouble finding a law of time to examine and assess.

8.We've reached a strange-some would say unusual-point.While fighting world hunger continues to be the matter of vital importance according to a recent report from the World Health Organization, more people now die from being overweight,or say, from being extremely fat, than from being underweight. It's the good life that's more likely to kill us these days.
Worse still, nearly 18 million children under the age of five around the world are estimated to be overweight. What's going on?
We really don't have many excuses for our weight problems. The dangers of the problem have been drilled into us by public-health campaigns since 2001 and the message is getting through-up to a point.
In the 1970s,Finland,for example, had the highest rate of heart disease in the world and being overweight was its main cause. Not any more.A public-health campaign has greatly reduced the number of heart disease deaths by 80 percent over the past three decades.
Maybe that explains why the percentage of people in Finland taking diet pills doubled between 2001 and 2005,and doctors even offer surgery of removing fat inside and change the shape of the body. That has become a sort of fashion. No wonder it ranks as the world's most body-conscious country.
We know what we should be doing to lose weight-but actually doing it is another matter.By far the most popular excuse is not taking enough exercise.More than half of us admit we lack willpower.Others blame good food. They say:it's just too inviting and it makes them overeat.Still others lay the blame on the Americans, complaining that pounds have piled on thanks to eating too much American-style fast food.
Some also blame their parents-their genes. But unfortunately, the parents are wronged because they're normal in shape,or rather slim.
It's a similar story around the world, although people are relatively unlikely to have tried to lose weight.Parents are eager to see their kids shape up.Do as I say-not as I do.

28.What's the"strange"point mentioned in the first sentence?B
A.Starvation is taking more people's lives in the world.
B.The good life is a greater risk than the bad life.
C.WHO report shows people's unawareness of food safety.
D.Overweight issue remains unresolved despite WHO's efforts.
29.Why does the author think that people have no excuse for being overweight?C

B.A lot of effective diet pills are available.
C.They have been made fully aware of its dangers.
D.There are too many overweight people in the world.

Life is a matter of choice.Seemingly,it means a choice of concrete (具体的) things.But in fact,it means choosing a way of life.Life is to be lived and enjoyed,not to be wasted or complained about.
Hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the threat from the life-and death disease---SARS.Yet,even during those dreadful times,some suffering people remained optimistic.Instead of wearing white masks,some people turned to colorful ones,and thus displayed a happy mood.And some creative people dubbed SARS to mean"SMILE AND REMAIN SMILING."People who survive these kinds of circumstances decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the hardships.
Although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities (逆境),we do have the right to choose to live optimistically,to love our lives,to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.
Every morning when we get up,we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day.

Our Life Rests on Our Choice
Faced with disasters and adversities, some people choose to stay optimistic and determine to carry on regardless of the hardships.Life,to some extent, rests on our choice.
Life is full of ups and downs. When the time comes for us to make choices,we should be aware of the importance of a positive attitude.A positive attitude somehow resembles the sail of a ship, which offers us the right direction.
As a teenager,it is of great significance to t ake a positive attitude towards life.To stay energetic,I will stick to an exercise schedule.I will also keep myself informed of the current events and communicate more with others, becoming socially connected.
All these mentioned above will be beneficial for me to grow into an optimistic and confident young man.Only by doing so can I adjust myself to society more easily and stay motivated towards a better life.(150 words).
