A teacher once told each of her students to bring a clear plastic bag and a sack of potatoes to school. For every person whom they refuse to forgive in their life¡¯s experience, they chose a potato, wrote on it the person¡¯s name and date, and put it in the plastic bag. Some of their bags were quite heavy. They were then told to carry this bag with them everywhere for one week, putting it beside their bed at night, on the car seat when driving, next to their desk at work.
The trouble of lugging this around with them made it clear what a weight they were carrying spiritually, and how they had to pay attention to it all the time to not forget and keep leaving it in embarrassing places. Naturally, the condition of the potatoes rotted to a nasty smelly slime(ð¤Òº). This was a great example for the price we pay for keeping our pain and heavy negativity(Ïû¼«ÐÔ)! Too often we think of forgiveness as a gift to the other person, and it clearly is for ourselves£¡

The story tells us that a teacher tried a fantastic way to make her students understand that forgiveness is not only a gift to others but is also benificial to ourselves.(31 words)
As is often the case, in our everyday contact people may sometimes misunderstand or offend each other intentionally or unintentionally due to different tastes, opinions and beliefs, which may cause conflict or even hatred. It¡¯s also true that around us there are some really unpleasant, offensive people whom we may not put up with. But if we don¡¯t forgive them and adopt a prejudiced attitude towords them, they would be just like that bag of rotted, smelly potatoes, a tiresome weight we are carrying spiritually.
So in my opinion, we should learn to forgive and try to get along harmoniously with everyone else. I quite agree with the teacher, who thinks of forgiveness as a gift for ourselves, because if we don¡¯t forgieve, we will always bear a burden on our minds.(131 words)
