【答案

Dear Emily,

I’m writing to tell you what I saw and felt in the city science museum last Saturday, where I was shown what was displayed there and informed of how China has struggled to explore the space during the last decades despite lots of difficulty. Over the 1980s, China had been making the exploration and it was not until 1999 that China succeeded in sending her first unmanned spacecraft into space, which marked as the beginning of China’s breakthroughs in the aeronautics field. Since then, China has sent manned aircraft into space, making herself one of the few countries that have grasped the space technology.

Seeing China’s rapid aeronautical development, I felt excited and proud, determining that I’ll focus more on my study to contribute to our country’s further space exploration.

Best regards.

Yours,

Li Hua

【题目】March, April and May are months full of festivals and events all over the world. Here are four wonderful festivals around the world that happen in spring. If you want to know more about them, please click here or visit http://www. buddhanet. net/festival, htm/.

SongKran—Thailand

Dates: 13th-15th, April

In Thailand, people celebrate a festival called Songkran, when people head out to the streets with water guns to spray everyone who walks past.

Naghol—Vanuatu

Dates: Every Saturday from April to May

Every year, villagers come together to celebrate the harvest of yams, an important part in the people’s diet in Vanuatu. The festival is most famous for its “land diving ceremony”. During the ceremony men and boys dive to the ground from high wooden towers with only two thin vines (藤) attached to their ankles.

Cherry Blossom Viewing—Japan

Dates: The cherry blossom season is different from year to year depending on the weather forecast.

The festival is well-known. Japanese celebrate the days when the flowers finally blossom. Only a few days later, the petals (花瓣) fall to the ground, like pink snowflakes. That means the traditional festival only lasts for several days. In Japan, almost everyone has picnics in the parks to view the flowers.

Sinhalese New Year—Sri Lanka

Dates: 13th or 14th, April

Just like in many other countries in South or South East Asia, this is the time when the Sinhalese celebrate the traditional New Year, an ancient celebration which marks the end of the harvest season and is one of two times of the year when the sun is straight above Sri Lanka. 【题目】Proper diet and regular exercise seem to be the only methods for losing weight. However, the importance of water should be added in the process. While medical science has proven the positive effects of water, most people still do not drink enough each day.

The reason why water is so important for weight loss has something to do with metabolism(新陈代谢)of fat. The liver(肝脏)is in charge of this process when it comes to turning stored fat in-to energy. However, the liver is also responsible for helping the kidneys(肾脏)that need enough water in order to function properly. The liver has to perform all the functions of the kidneys on its own when they are short of water. This means the liver doesn't have enough energy to metabolize fat. So,drinking water allows the kidneys to focus on their job and the liver to focus on its job.

Also, studies have shown that water can make us feel full when drunk before meals.Without even making an effort, most people who drink a glass of water before a meal will eat 33% less. This is due in part to the fact that they simply get fuller quicker because the water is taking up space. The other reason is that the food will expand as soon as it hits the water-filled stomach.

Water is important for every aspect of the health of the human body.By drinking more water and improving the health of the body, weight loss goals can be achieved with greater ease.

1Which of the following is not mentioned in the passage as a way to lose weight?

2The liver has to take over the job of the kidneys when .

A. the kidneys are lacking in water B. there is something wrong with the kidneys

C. the liver doesn't supply energy for the kidneys D. there is no fat for the liver to metabolize

3Why can we lose weight by drinking water before meals?

A. Because we don't feel thirsty any longer. B. Because we eat much less than normal.

C. Because the water takes up too much space. D. Because the food becomes larger and larger.

4Which of the following would be the best title for this passage?

A. The Liver Is Important to the Kidneys. B. How the Digestive System Works.

There were smiling children all the way.Clearly they knew at what time the train passed their homes and they made it their business to stand along the railway, wave to complete strangers and cheer them up as they rushed towards Penang.Often whole families stood outside their homes and waved and smiled as if those on the trains were their favorite relatives. This is the simple village people of Malaysia.I was moved.
